The hotel is quite nice and the room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast room was nice and the breakfast was rich and full of choice. Unfortunately the room had no air conditioning and no wifi, wifi in the lobby only... But the position is perfect!

This hotel is very near Termini station and down in the China town area of Rome. The staff are very pleasant, the rooms are clean if a little old fashioned, and the breakfast buffet is good but lacking much for vegans like myself. Outside the hotel there are quite a few down and outs but they do not cause any... More

Well located right next to the Santa Maria Maggiore. The surrounding area isn't great, but it's only a short walk - 6/7 mins to the Colosseum. & Forum etc. Very helpful reception staff with English spoken. Rooms are basic, but functional with decent bathrooms. Breakfast was excellent - a good variety but not replenished so get in early. All in... More

spent 4 nights for my 50th birthday surprise with hubby, clean hotel, had a quiet rear bedroom,(front looked noisy). basic breakfast, worn furniture in bedroom ,should be replaced, but extremely helpful reception staff on 8th December who helped us get taxi to airport when our pre-booked transfer did not arrive, without his phonecalls we would have missed the flight to Manchester. Street felt... More

This hotel was in a great location only minutes walk from the colosseum and if you don't mind walking accessible to everywhere. Very handy for the Termini just 2 minutes walk away and the shuttle buses from the airport drop off there. The area it is in is not brilliant though so be careful. The hotel information on the web... Deste was almost exactly what we were looking for when we went to Rome. Its not luxurious or perfect or anything like that. But if you expect a place close to most things you want to see and still get something comfortable to rest your sore feets on for the evening. And on top of that also get an ok... More

I booked this place via a travel website 'mystery hotel deal' and by the time of booking all I knew was it was a 3-star hotel near Termini station. I was appalled by the reviews when I received the hotel details, and that feeling did not change a bit when I actually arrived at the hotel 2 months later. I... More

This hotel doesn't stand out in any way. But for the price and location it's not bad at all. Had a twin room for three nights facing the street. Clean, not too hot, good shower. Not more than five-ten minutes from termini, 15 min to colosseum, and just a couple of minutes walk to the Metro which takes you to... More

I travelled to Rome and stayed in a twin room at the Hotel D’Este with a friend from July 8 -11. For what it was, it offered good value. The room, hotel and breakfast area were clean. The bath leaked pretty badly when the shower was on, but it had dried by the morning. There is wi-fi but it was... More

I always find it strange how people describe there holidays and wonder if they base it all on their hotel. In any case I wanted some where clean, comfortable and central in rome and feel I almost got more for my money. The staff were helpful and pleasant always giving me tips and directing me. Room was cleaned EVERY day... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
