My husband and I used this hotel to visit the sights of Rome. It is in a good location, 20 mins walk to the Colosseum. A great way to see the sights cheaply is to use the hop on / hop off tour buses in the area, you can get off at sights and get back on the next bus... More

The room is just average. Nothing to complain about except the full bed is just two twins pushed together and it was a little musk (is that the right word?) after it rained. The room was old but very clean. The staff was amazing. They really take pride in their jobs. They were very friendly and helped us with anything... More

A good comfortable little hotel for the price. It is basic but the staff make up for it they are very helpful. Yes the lift is small (2 average size people or 1 person and a suitcase) but it is better than no lift at all. The bath towels look like very thin tea towels but they are surprisingly very... More

Hotel Doria is situated very close to the Church of Santa Maria de maggiore, which is terrific . The local buses and hop on hop off tour buses are all fairly close as is the metro(underground). Within walking distance of Colosseum and Forum , but transport needed for the Vatican, The hotel staff were knowledgable with good English language skills... More

My husband and I booked our trip in Rome and when we got there realized the hotel we were staying in had the dates wrong so we had to find somewhere to stay for our last night. We found hotel Doria located close to where we already were staying for the same price of what we were paying (the place... More

A small hotel located in the center of Rome, near the great church /basilica Santa Maria di Maggiore and on walking distance to e.g. Colosseum and Forum Romanum. Excellent staff who speaks perfect English in the lobby. Breakfast in-or outdoors on the top floor. Only 20 rooms in the hotel, so it feels intimate and personal. The price is very... More

I truly think this is one of the best-value-for-money-hotel in Rome. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. The view from the roof garden while eating breakfast is truly amazing. I would without a doubt stay here again; in fact this would be the first hotel I would check for availability in Rome.

We have just returned from a 5 day stay at this hotel. Our first impression was that it was very basic. However, by the end of our stay we absolutely loved it. It is very clean, the room was air conditioned and we had five nights of excellent sleep. The people on reception are charming and friendly, always eager to... More

My teenage daughter and I stayed at Hotel Doria in August for 5 nights. The location is great, loved the neighborhood. We walked to most attractions (too far to walk to the Vatican). The hotel staff was extrememly helpful for directions and recommendations. One in particular was a huge help in getting me to the drug store when my daughter... More

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in June. It is not fancy but the location is great, the staff were very helpful and courteous and the location is excellent. Rooms were clean. Our room had a shower stall but no bathtub. The street can be a bit noisy but the room was not too warm when we closed... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
