The Hotel Doria was perfect for our stay in Roma while visiting my son who is studying at JCU. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was typically small (especially the shower stall) for this price range, but very clean. The bath towels were big, but thin (by design). The front desk staff was extremely... More

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel, nothing is too much bother for any of the staff. Brilliant location we walked everywhere apart from the Vatican. Rooms are small but so clean towels are something else they look like you will never get dry but are so much better than the heavy ones in England. The only thing the room... More

My husband and I used this hotel to visit the sights of Rome. It is in a good location, 20 mins walk to the Colosseum. A great way to see the sights cheaply is to use the hop on / hop off tour buses in the area, you can get off at sights and get back on the next bus... More

The room is just average. Nothing to complain about except the full bed is just two twins pushed together and it was a little musk (is that the right word?) after it rained. The room was old but very clean. The staff was amazing. They really take pride in their jobs. They were very friendly and helped us with anything... More

A good comfortable little hotel for the price. It is basic but the staff make up for it they are very helpful. Yes the lift is small (2 average size people or 1 person and a suitcase) but it is better than no lift at all. The bath towels look like very thin tea towels but they are surprisingly very... More

Hotel Doria is situated very close to the Church of Santa Maria de maggiore, which is terrific . The local buses and hop on hop off tour buses are all fairly close as is the metro(underground). Within walking distance of Colosseum and Forum , but transport needed for the Vatican, The hotel staff were knowledgable with good English language skills... More

My husband and I booked our trip in Rome and when we got there realized the hotel we were staying in had the dates wrong so we had to find somewhere to stay for our last night. We found hotel Doria located close to where we already were staying for the same price of what we were paying (the place... More

A small hotel located in the center of Rome, near the great church /basilica Santa Maria di Maggiore and on walking distance to e.g. Colosseum and Forum Romanum. Excellent staff who speaks perfect English in the lobby. Breakfast in-or outdoors on the top floor. Only 20 rooms in the hotel, so it feels intimate and personal. The price is very... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
