We had high expectations about this hotel, but were disapointed from the moment we arrived.staff very rude and were only nice when they got underhanded tips.Othere reviewers have said the same so TAKE NOTE! rooms very dark, walls thin.terrible considering it was 200 euro a night....disgraceful. reception staff only smiled if they thought you'd give them a 10 euro tip.very popular with... We stayed in this hotel for a week and it was a very pleasant stay indeed. The staff was very nice and helpfull. The breakfast buffet was excellent, with plenty of choice, and allways enough of everything. The room was nicely decorated and by no means small. There was a little private vault in the room to store our valuables.... More

We stayed at the Napoleon as a part of our 10th Wedding anniversary...before taking our trip to Italy I emailed the Napoleon asking for a room upgrade. When we arrived at 7:30 am on a Thursday the front desk people had my email on file along with a fax fron the vatican with our reservations for the Sistine Chapel. We... More

Couldn't have been happier with our room, location, and our daily breakfasts. Our room was on the 6th Floor. The room was penthouse size by European standards with a large bathroom. Breakfast was excellent and by all means ask for as many cappuccinos as you want. But the best thing about this hotel was the location of the Metro Stop.... More

My husband and I traveled by train from Venice to Rome on a stormy, gloomy day. We ended up with reservations at the Hotel Napoleon because we told our travel agent that we preferred to be within walking distance of the train station, which we were. After a rather wet walk with our suitcases, we arrived at the hotel. First... More

We stayed here for 2 nights on our honeymoon, using Expedia, I put a note to that effect when I was booking it, and the 5 other hotels I stayed at in Italy and Paris seemed to care about that because they gave us great rooms and service. It was not the case here. Service was ok, the manager was... More

I have to apologise in advance for this review. When we drove from the airport I had high expectations of this hotel and I was very excited. We pulled up outside this, well, I would describe it as cheap looking, area with lots of entrances to various shops. On our left there was a beautiful park and I had presumed... More

We booked a junior suite which was very small and very tired. The room needed refurbishing and the bathroom frankly needed gutting. Not at all acceptable. The view from our room was of a brick wall. The breakfast we found uninspired. Reading other reviews on Trip Advisor we seem to be very much in the minority which I find baffling?... More

I attended the wedding of a friend in Rome last May. There were about thirty of us staying at the hotel. There were courtesy minibuses laid on to take us from Fiumacino airport. When we arrived at the hotel, there were porters there to take our luggage to our rooms. The buffet breakfast in the hotel was impressive. I also... More

Stayed 5 nights so had good opportunity to see most aspects. The good aspects were 1. Very clean quiet room with excellent maid service 2. Reception service was good depending who was on the desk 3. Situation was excellentwith immediate access to metro but piazza vittorio is shabby and run down with the obligatory graffiti everywhere. 4. Breakfast buffet was... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
