The hotel is in a terrific location. When we checked in the hotel was at 100% full and very busy. We had a beautiful room with a nice marble bathroom. The bed was very comfortable with down pillows. Our windows opened up to an inside courtyard. We ordered room service every morning and the service was very fast and courteous.... more

My husband and I stayed at the Westin Excelsior for 4 nights in early August, 2009. I wanted to stay at a grand Italian hotel. It was a mixed experience. The lobby certainly lived up to my expectations and I had no complaint about our room. We stayed in the basic room and it was very comfortable. I was worried... more

Stayed for three night in two rooms with a connecting door which created a nice suite. Rooms we large with a terrific terrace. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are nicely appointed and quite large. The four of us could have stayed in a single room. However, simple things were not done. If a light bulb burns out change... more

This hotel is very grand. The shared areas of it are beautiful. The rooms, however, were not up to the same standard and could do with updating - new carpets, fresh paint etc. The beds were good though - you can see why they are a Westin trademark. We did have a great view of the Via Veneto from the... more

We have stayed at this hotel many times. It is in a quiet location and on the famed Via Veneto. Close to Spanish Steps. Taxis at corner. Luxury at a price. Somewhat tired hotel. Good staff. Terrific bathrooms and exercise room. Pricey food. more

We need a hotel to stay in before our tour started. I looked around for a good mid-range hotel, and found that some places that I wanted to book would not book only one night, plus the fact that we were three in the room (my 8 year old son was travelling with us) made it very expensive in certain... more

The hotel is in a very good location. Within walking distance to the Spanish Steps and several other significant areas depending on your fitness level. It's true the hotel is beginning to show its age in some areas. The carpet in our room needed to be replaced and the furniture could use some updating but the bed, linens and bathroom... more

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Excelsior for 3 nights while in rome and were not impressed. The charge top dollar and we thought it was way over-priced and over-rated. The hotel staff was slow and not overly helpful in getting things done as requested. The hotel is in the nicer, quieter part of town, which is great... more

The hotel probably was very nice in its prime, but is in need of some updating. One indication is that after evening showers, the kids feet became instantly dirty again after walking on the carpet. Rooms are roomy and have classic decors. The bathroom was large, but also suffered a little bit from lack of bleach (or maybe the plumbing... more

This review has been updated to correct erroneous star ratings. I have requested removal of the original review. I had some concern about staying at the Westin Excelsior after reading the reviews. I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. We arrived at the hotel at 8:30 am. The room originally planned for us (top floor, street view) was not... more
