My wife and I spent 6 nights at the Westin Excelsior in Rome. It is a far walk to the subway so no plus there for proximity to subway. 30 min walk to shopping areas. The room itself lacked adequate storage and I was taken aback by the scuffed dirty walls and dirty upholstery in the room and drapery sheers... More

This is a classy hotel decorated elaborately with lots of marble and gold leaf accents. The service was great. Our room on the fifth floor was clean and quiet. The bathroom was large with two sinks, a bidet, and a glass enclosed shower. The shower has two heade together and put out a ton of water. Hot water is quick... More

We came to Rome for the first time during Easter holiday before children went back to school. We enjoyed our stay! The lobby area is very impressive. The hotel is about 15 minutes walk to Spanish steps, and closes to many other well-known upper end international hotels. We also used the hop-on-hop-off tour bus service, there is a stop just... What a great hotel - central location makes most sights "walkable"! Excellent rooms in a pretty building. Lovely staff, very helpful, nice lobby bar with piano music. Corner suites are to die for if you can get one. I highly recommend this hotel. Richard Burns

We were in Rome for Easter week and decided to stay at the Westin for three nights, and we're happy we did! Upon check-in, our room was not ready yet, which was somewhat frustrating. However, after a relatively short wait, we were escorted up to our room and pleasantly surprised by our room upgrade! We had a street view room,... More

The Excelsior is located very centrally to all major attractions in Rome. Although the room was in need of renovation, the beds were comfortable and we had a great view. The restaurant was not nearly of the quality I'm used to in other Starwood properties. The service was the worst I have received in any hotel, let alone Starwood properties.... More

I think the hotel is really nice. It probably is not fair to judge when part of such a large group. 540 people. The people working here were all really helpful and really nice. As were people throughout Italy. The room was very nice and had everything you need. If I was not in the window treatment business I would... More

I stayed a the Westin recently for business trip that I extended a few days to explore Rome. While I walked a lot the hotel was within walking distance of nearly everything. The rooms were older but very nice and the hotel was lovely.

We recently stayed here for 4 nights. We arranged a limo transfer from the airport to the hotel which was hassle free and charged to our room account. On arrival reception staff were friendly & welcoming. Our room although it had two single beds pushed together as a king lived up to the Westin "heavenly bed" standard. Breakfast in the... More

We stayed in March here for 3 nigths. The hotel itself is like a heritage, the concerige counter is a very old type one. Having stayed in a lot modern hotels, it gives me a feeling of going back to the 18th century. Things is preserved well. The receptionist is very nice and they got good memories, the next time... Staying in Ludovisi / Via Veneto

Neighborhood Profile
Ludovisi / Via Veneto
Thanks to Fellini and La Dolce Vita, the Ludovisi and Via Veneto neighborhood earned its reputation as a posh area where gorgeous Marcellos wooed actresses and models while bored housewives hung out in streetside cafes. The cafes are still there, and so are the cocktails, but the neighborhood is now home to five-star businesses including hotels, banks, law firms, and embassies. The area is also right next to Villa Borghese, a beautiful park for sporting and cultural adventures. If you're looking for tranquility by night, this may be the place: Ludovisi and Veneto tend to shut down after 8pm.
