We were amazed by the personalized service we received from the staff especially the concierge. The room was very nice and comfortable. Room service was very fast. The hotel bar/cafe and breakfast buffet had great service. Maybe it is an Italian thing. The building itself is very grand and beautiful. It isn't far from the train station.

This is a lovely hotel near the main shopping areas and within easy walking distance of tourist attractions such as the Spanish steps Pantheon and Trevi fountain. The breakfasts are superb, enough to last the rest of the day, although we are at one of the many restaurants nearby in the evenings. The hotel staff were friendly and the decor... More

Dear TripAdvisor Thank your for your review and happy to read you liked the staff, the breakfast, the décor, the gym, the pool and the location. Regarding the pool you are right but by Italian law we cannot heat over 29 degrees Celsius (84.2 Fahrenheit). On top we have the inconvenience that the Jacuzzi is connected to the pool so... More

I was very impressed with the architecture of the hotel. But like what everybody else is saying, the hotel is tired and in desperate need of renovation. The only place I could plug in a European standard adapter is in the toilet, and the same outlet is needed for the hair dryer. The breakfast is brilliant and I think it... More

Dear TripAdvisor Thank you for your review and for saying the breakfast is brilliant and the Café Doney staff attentive. We indeed serve GROM gelato which is one of the finest ice creams in Italy I apologize for the plugs; we indeed have “Italian “plugs installed but adaptors are for sale in the mini-bar Best regards Marc L More

I wish I could give this hotel 5 stars but I can't.... As a five star resort, I expected better. The rooms are tired and falling apart. It's in desperate need of a renovation. My family and I stayed there for 4 nights and quite honestly, I was not impressed. When you first walk in, you're in awe of the... More

Let me start with a statement. This is my first review on tripadvisor. We travelled to Rome on February 1st with my wife. Upon arriving at the westin excelsior, we both loved the architecture and the history of the building. We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights. The building is tired and a renovation is necessary. The staff was... More

Having stayed at many Westin hotels they can range quite greatly from conference like hotels to an amazing resort. Check in was easy and being a gold member the hotel upgraded me to a rather large room with a balcony. It felt bigger than my flat! The hotel was right across from the US Embassy and in a more upscale... More

Dear TripAdvisor Thank you for your review and for staying at many Westin hotels Happy to read you enjoyed the hotel and the Concierge service As to the location we are 10 walking minutes of the Spanish steps and indeed some guests do prefer to stay in the city center and others a bit away from it Best regards Marc... My daughter and I stayed for two nights at this glorious hotel. It is conveniently located, and walking distance to metro and most sites of the city. I can not say enough about the hotel staff. They were always cordial and more than willing to help in any way possible. We used our points to upgrade to a junior suite... More

Recently completed a two-night stay at the Westin Excelsior, celebrating my birthday. We couldn't be more pleased with our experience. The lobby and rooms at the Westin are stunningly decorated and beautifully maintained, and the Westin Heavenly bed is incredibly comfortable. We were traveling with our 1 year-old son, and the hotel graciously provided a crib for him to sleep... More

Stayed at the Westin for three nights last weekend and really enjoyed the hotel. The hotel is in an upmarket part of Rome which is nice as the more tourist areas can be abit crowded and less pretty. However it is still a great location with only a short walk to historic centre of Rome. The hotel gives a great... More

The Westin Excelsior has a wonderful lobby that is spacious with a great deal of seating. This was a nice gathering place for colleagues to meet during a recent business trip. Staying in Ludovisi / Via Veneto

Neighborhood Profile
Ludovisi / Via Veneto
Thanks to Fellini and La Dolce Vita, the Ludovisi and Via Veneto neighborhood earned its reputation as a posh area where gorgeous Marcellos wooed actresses and models while bored housewives hung out in streetside cafes. The cafes are still there, and so are the cocktails, but the neighborhood is now home to five-star businesses including hotels, banks, law firms, and embassies. The area is also right next to Villa Borghese, a beautiful park for sporting and cultural adventures. If you're looking for tranquility by night, this may be the place: Ludovisi and Veneto tend to shut down after 8pm.
