The Excelsior is one of those jewels which bring you back into a time when travel was a pleasure. An efficient Concierge Team, Reception team and other staff make sure that all wishes are being fulfilled. I stayed in Room #121 with all it old world charm and decor - but with modern facilities

Hotel is in a great location walking distance to the Spanish steps and also many shops and restaurants. Room was comfortable and clean. Bathroom shower pressure was not good at all. Restaurant cafe downstairs was very good and also very good gelato as well. We set up a private waking tour for $75 euro per hour the guide we got... More

Since it is high season in July, hotels are expensive in Rome. Westin is no exception in very high price for an aged small room; the TV is exceptionally small (~32" LCD or smaller). There is nothing to praise about the room, but the bath room is clean with pretty of towels. Gym room is small & tight. I only... More

Dear Tripadvisor Thank you for your review I regret we did not meet your expectations Regarding location other Tripadvisors like the fact that we are near the Borghese park not “in” the city but 10 minutes from the Spanish steps (there is a shorter way using the metro station of Via Veneto next to the Harry’s bar where walking inside... We stayed at this hotel in Rome July 21-26/15. We were a family of 3 and our room was lovely and huge. We stayed with SPG points, and I think that hotels typically don't give their best room to SPG members, however the room was great, but the noise of the garbage cans in the back alley every night around... Dear TripAdvisor Thank you for your review and for saying that the staff is helpful and that you had a wonderful stay. Happy to read that you enjoyed the outside terrace of the Café & Restaurant Doney We indeed had some urgent repair to the indoor pool (from July 19-26) which coincided with your stay and I apologize for the... We all loved this hotel. We stayed here for three nights in seven rooms and we were all very pleased with the hotel, the staff and the amenities. We were upgraded to suites in five rooms and they were tremendous, especially compared to most European hotel rooms. The air conditioning was wonderful throughout the hotel and it was 40'C in... I'm an SPG platinum member. Check in was great, we were upgraded to a suite. Staff was generally very good (except the restaurant), and the concierge was excellent in terms of restaurant recommendations. The hotel is pretty ideally located - right next to the Villa Borghese gardens and walk-able to the Spanish steps. As a Platinum member, we had the... More

Dear TripAdvisor Thank you for your review and for saying we are a terrific hotel Happy to read that as Platinum Starwood Preferred Guest we could upgrade you. This hotel is a long walk away from many of the historical artifacts but close to the "Hop on Hop off" bus stops. The hotel is exquisite in every fashion...and certainly provide a sense of eloquence. The room decors were fashionable and AC system worked beyond expectation (would go as low as you wanted). Breakfast buffet was immense with a... More

We spent two nights in Rome prior to boarding our cruise ship. Arriving at the hotel very early in the morning, we weren't expecting our room to be ready but we were very pleasantly surprised. The hotel staff couldn't have been more accommodating. The room was beautiful and large. Everything was top notch in the room, including the excellent WiFi... More

Spent a prt of my honeymoon in a room and was pleased to actually have stayed in this hotel. The room had an opulent, quintessential italian feel. The staff was friendly. I would return here in a heartbeat! Free wifi in room was a nice touch.

Rome was the second stop on our Italian vacation with 2 daughters (9 and 11) to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. We had just come from Venice having stayed in connecting rooms at Hotel Danieli. Check-in was uneventful, but when we got to our 4th floor rooms, they were side by side, not connecting. Note that in 5 star European... More

Staying in Ludovisi / Via Veneto

Neighborhood Profile
Ludovisi / Via Veneto
Thanks to Fellini and La Dolce Vita, the Ludovisi and Via Veneto neighborhood earned its reputation as a posh area where gorgeous Marcellos wooed actresses and models while bored housewives hung out in streetside cafes. The cafes are still there, and so are the cocktails, but the neighborhood is now home to five-star businesses including hotels, banks, law firms, and embassies. The area is also right next to Villa Borghese, a beautiful park for sporting and cultural adventures. If you're looking for tranquility by night, this may be the place: Ludovisi and Veneto tend to shut down after 8pm.
