Great luxury hotel. Staff very attentive. Rooms are classically decorated, but need refreshing. Mattresses, carpeting needs cleaning, tile worn, paint, etc. Great central location as well. Recommend, but with qualifier that does need some general maintenance.

This is no doubt that this a good hotel - historical building, great rooms, long hallways, classic interiors - but sorely misses the warmth associated with top class hotels. The service was bad but nothing extraordinary. The carpet and floor at some places need repair. Breakfast had a good spread but again service was not delightful. I feel, this hotel... More

Luxury hotel in a beautiful, upscale part of town. Service excellent as was the food. The physical plant is in need of an uplift. Rooms average and showing wear. Cart from room service kept in hall overnight on several occasions. Walls in halls need repair. In this category of hotel, just average.

It is a large historical hotel in a great location. It needs a few updates in the rooms and hallways, mostly maintenance upkeep. Hot tub in the pool room is not hot at all, which is a normal rule in italy. pool is a medium size, there is also a nice wet and dry sauna. In overall it is a... More

The positives are the location and the historic building. The doormen were great too. However, like many people have said the hotel architecture is amazing but the actual condition of the rooms is poor. Worn carpeting, chipped furniture, lamp shades coming apart etc. Front desk did not answer when I was transferred from the main line twice. I wanted to... More

I am mixed on the review. The room was beautiful as was the hotel. The light in the bathroom made weird noises and the trash pick up in the middle of the night was a bit annoying. The lounge was slow on service and double billed us. The concierge was helpful when I lost my phone and we appreciated that... More

We stayed at the Westin Excelsior twice during our trip to Rome; the first for 5 days and second for only one night before flying out. The Westin is well situated near the U.S. Embassy, within walking of the Borghese Gardens, Museums, excellent restaurants and easy walk to shopping, the Spanish Steps and the Metro line. Taxi ride from Train... More

Fantastic location on Via Veneto. concierge was fantastic. Walked everywhere including Spanish steps, Borgese galleries, Vatican, shopping and many dinner locations. Had fantastic cocktails before each night out and a night cap upon return. I am Starwood Platinum and was treated very well.

I have had a number of stays in good hotels this past year due to conferences etc... I stayed at the Excelsior in relation to a business conference, but can say that the hotel has helped me feel as though I have had a much needed mini-break. Thanks!!! The quiet room overlooked the courtyard and had a lovely big balcony.... More

Unfortunately we had only one night in this comfortable hotel from check in to check out the staff was attentive and friendly. As a SPG member we were upgraded to a suite on room 351 which was spacious and comfortable (but would have been very expensive). Neighbourhood was reasonably quitet so we could sleep with the balcony doors open. Some... More

Staying in Ludovisi / Via Veneto

Neighborhood Profile
Ludovisi / Via Veneto
Thanks to Fellini and La Dolce Vita, the Ludovisi and Via Veneto neighborhood earned its reputation as a posh area where gorgeous Marcellos wooed actresses and models while bored housewives hung out in streetside cafes. The cafes are still there, and so are the cocktails, but the neighborhood is now home to five-star businesses including hotels, banks, law firms, and embassies. The area is also right next to Villa Borghese, a beautiful park for sporting and cultural adventures. If you're looking for tranquility by night, this may be the place: Ludovisi and Veneto tend to shut down after 8pm.
