We had a great time staying at Hotel Britannia! Our room had a queen bed and a balcony. The free mini bar was so nice with bottled water. The location is great -- it's off Via Nazionale, which has lots of local shopping. We walked to the Colosseum, the Pantheon, Spanish steps, etc. We did catch a car to the... More

I was somewhat disappointed by this hotel - it was by far the most expensive of the 5 hotels we stayed in Italy (over $400 Canadian per night), but fell short of a 4 star hotel. it is in a lovely location, and we were allowed to check in early, and there was a welcoming bottle of wine brought to... Best breakfast is the best in our 21 day trip to Italy. Rooms are charming and immaculate. Staff is helpful and polite. Maids are accommodating. Location is great. Manaement goes above and beyond to respond to your needs. Simone and Senior Rossi are amazing at caring for their guests and Marco treats you with care and concern for your needs.

I don't think I've ever written a review before on anything (lol) but I had to for this particular hotel. Don't get me wrong, I loved staying here. It is a beautiful, centrally located hotel outside of Rome's historic district which is wonderful especially during the May-August tourist season. Breakfast was awesome, rooms were comfy, overall a decent experience. However...the... More

We stayed at the Hotel Britannia for one night while in Rome. Although our room was not ready when we arrived (we were very early). The hotel staff was accommodating; checking our luggage, offering us the use of a restroom and giving us a cold bottle of water. We have traveled in older cities before and know that most hotel... Hotel Britannia is a small hotel just behind the Opera House in Rome, Italy. The communal areas as well as the hotel rooms are beautifully appointed. The staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast is phenomenal. I especially liked that it was in a non-touristy area. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Rome.

I have to say I was initially disappointed upon arrival, the hotel is situated in a side street that is rather shabby, everything was alot smaller than it appeared in the photos, but it did have very good reviews. The rooms are quite tight for 3 beds but ok given you want to out exploring! Breakfast was very good and... More

Lovely little hotel. Staff were so helpful, nothing was a trouble. Location was ideal for the ancient Rome. Takes around 5 minutes to walk to the Palatine Hills area. Personally I found the hotel a welcome change to the large hotel groups but some may find it rather small and basic for their liking. Thank you hotel Britiania for looking... More

Staff is good---fella at night was amazing. The breakfast is a very large american spread with real american eggs...not the weird eggs other places serve. Well done breakfast! Mattress was very firm--too firm for me. Bathroom was updated which was nice. Close to everything---Borghese Gardens, Spanish Steps, Medici villa.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
