My wife and I visited Rome in October for a short two night break. I picked Hotel Britannia for its location and was glad that I did as it served us well. From the hotel you could easily walk to Central Station, Metro stations and more importantly the main sights around the Forum. The staff at the hotel (particularly Simone)... More

Paid the double superior room by hotels.com , the front desk said I had to pay 12 euro for city tax and pay for extra person? 30 euro. it is a trap, make sure you put 2 adults when booking through the hotels.com. I checked again to see any price difference, there were none. Just a trap , by a... More

We were a family of three and stayed in a family room (2 neighboring rooms with separate doors sharing a common door) on the 3rd floor. Positives: - Complimentary mini-bar in the rooms were great and were supplied with juice and bottled water on a daily basis - Turn down service every afternoon was nice - Rain shower in the... More

A couple of days ago I came back with my husband and we were treated with the most welcome as in the past. We were upgraded to a superior room with balcony on the fourth floor and we were lucky enough to enjoy the good weather even in a cold day. The heating system was perfect night and day and... More

Good location in a nice part of the city closed by good restaurants. The stuff is very helpful and kind you could ask anything and get answer with a smile. Breakfast is rich and worth attention and minibar refill. The hotel worth the money paid for and is highly recommended for any tourist who wants to tour the city, be... More

"Nothing in Rome is like the photos" this is a quote from the Receptionist when we complained about the size of the room. In the photos the rooms look quite spacious, ours however was 10msq, fine for one person, but not for two. We had to move some furniture out of the room into the hallway so we could fit... More

We stayed for a week and enjoyed the great service, the excellent complementary breakfast, the free in room wi-fi, the FREE drinks in the room refrigerator, large bathroom with fantastic water pressure, a comfortable bed, and so much more. Yes, the room and the elevator are small, but you are in a major city that has so much to offer...... More

The hotel has a decent location on an unpretentious narrow street round the corner from via Nazionale and close to Termini. Service, cleanliness and breakfast are good. The weak point is space. The common area is minuscule, halls are very narrow, the elevator tiny and the room (twin beds) barely had space for the two beds (no space in between).... More

Dear CarloGenoa_Italy, We are very sorry you di not feel comfortable in our Hotel, although you appreciated the cleanliness (we are very demanding) and the breakfast. The problem with you was "space", you write: we do acknowledge, we are a small Hotel of course; a 160 years old compact palace where a lift has been added later thanks to a... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
