This was my third stay and unlike my first two, I was disappointed. Although the location can't be better, the reception staff seemed disinterested. The protocol is to hand in your room key when you leave and retrieve it upon your return. A staff member who we had not previously encountered handed us the key without any verification of who... Dear Sir, We regret immensely to the problem of the bed, but we believe it would be more correct to advise us during your stay as we would have found a solution to the problem being mainly because being an old customer you know very well that we always try to make your stay at the better, with regard to... We just returned home from an 8-night stay in this hotel and were very pleased with it. We were happy we opted for a Junior Suite, which gave us a bit more space. The staff was courteous and helpful, and the hotel's location was within walking distance of almost everything. If we return to Rome, we will stay there again.

This Hotel gets a 3 rating instead of 5 due to the uncomfortable small double bed. The mattress is uncomfortable and could use replacing also the blanket should be replaced. We felt the price was high for a three star hotel even in Rome since the bedroom is small with old beds which are not comfortable. Otherwise the Location, staff,... More

I've stayed here before and will do again. It's worth the money for the picturesque location on a narrow, quiet, cobbled street but minutes from Piazza Navona. The staff remembered myself and my son despite it being 12 months between visits and probably hundreds of guests in between. It was nice to be remembered. We stayed in the Torres Suite... More

My second stay. Great location near the Vatican. Great staff. Eager to help with restaurants and suggestions. Rooms are nice. Bathrooms are newer, but the shower stalls could be larger. Good value for the price.

Have stayed there give times. The location is great and you feel very safe at night walking. We love Rome and feel very safe but be careful of fast cars. You may think it is a walking path and get run over. Hotel great for assisting with taxi service.

We recently stayed at the Hotel Portoghesi for 4 nights. We last stayed there in 1989 with our then-8-year-old son, and we could not have been happier with the accommodations and the service as well as the location. For various reasons (most of all the increased prices and non-availability), we stayed elsewhere on our numerous returns to Rome over the... More

Three of us stayed in the 'apartment' for 6 nights. The location was unbeatable, with easy access to major landmarks, and shops and restaurants literally right outside our door. Our 2 rooms, though non-luxurious, were clean, spacious (with LOTS of storage space), and comfortable. The bathroom was huge, and everything worked well. The rooftop breakfast spot was quite lovely, and... More

Pros.. Great location, great staff, requested repairs done promptly. Very good restaurant next door. Walking distance to the Vatican and Piazza Navona. Cons.. Carpet needs cleaning, paper thin walls, very small shower (18 inch by 18 inch), breakfast less then average.

My first trip to Roma and Rick Steve's rec didn't disappoint. Helpful staff even found a private guide to the Vatican the day before. On a quiet cobblestone street near Piazza Navona, this hotel was a great spot for me to stay with Mom, Dad and a friend. We had the apartment with its own entrance and discovered we could... More
