Starting with the emails for booking and related matters, it was evident that staff were very helpful and polite. That continued throughout our stay with everyone working in the hotel. Our room was small, well decorated and furnished, pleasant and comfortable, and cleaned well daily. We caught a great deal by booking a week beginning with the "low" season in... More

This hotel is worth staying in for the location alone. Otherwise it is pretty ordinary. Service was okay. I got fussed at twice for forgetting to leave my key at the desk. Still don't know what the big deal was. Also be aware that right next door is an old church with a famous organ. It is so famous that... More

The Hotel Portoghesi has old world charm and is a wonderful location within walking distances of most of the major sights of Rome. It has hospitable staff, a good breakfast, and is both clean and economical. For those who like to run, it is only about a two minute jog to the Tiber River walking trails and another nice run,... We stayed here years ago and had very fond memories This trip did not disappoint. Excellent accommodations and service at a very reasonable price. Good location, friendly staff and within easy walking distance of the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, the Vatican and Spanish Steps. Highly recommended.

For our first trip to Rome we could not have asked for a better introduction. The hotel was charming, intimate and perfectly located. Excellent restaurants abounded around every corner. All of our sights were within walking distance. Our suite was clean, large and afforded a quaint view of the street. The breakfast was perfectly Italian- lovely coffee with a beautiful... More

If the owner asked, I would have told him that indeed, as other guests have pointed out, the bedding is quite hard and uncomfortable as are the pillows. The rooms (I stayed in two) are dark; lighting and overall comfort levels and deco should be updated in my subjective opinion. As he has been her for 30+ years I am... More

We returned to this hotel again because of its great location and friendly, helpful staff. Located close to all the sites we love, like Piazza Navona, Pantheon, Steps, St. Peters, etc. this hotel supports a great walking experience of Rome. Quiet rooms with modern bathrooms are comfortable and quiet, particularly on the back side. The coffee is great! Having found... More

Outstanding location near the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. The staff is very helpful and speak excellent English. The rooms are quite small but comfortable, the bathroom modern but very tight. Breakfast is served on the top floor and there is a large patio on which to eat if the weather permits. Location and great staff are the best points about... More

Our first trip to Rome was on a cruise, so we wanted an extended stay when we returned three years later. We spent five nights here, and we were very pleased with the Hotel Portoghesi. The hotel sent a town car to pick us up at the airport for a reasonable fee, which I would do again in a heartbeat... More

Have just returned from a 3 week visit to Italy with a friend. We found this hotel in the Rick Steves Italy 2014 book and decided to try it. Stayed for 5 nights and it was so perfect. The room was small but nicely appointed and since there is so much to see in Rome we didn't spend much time... More

Staying in Navona / Pantheon / Campo de’ Fiori

Neighborhood Profile
Navona / Pantheon / Campo de’ Fiori
With three of Rome’s most beloved piazzas within a five-minute walk of each other, the Navona/Pantheon/Campo area may be the prettiest and most picturesque area of the city. Join the beautiful throngs hanging out in cafes, boutiques, art galleries, and wine bars, or peek at a neighborhood museum or monument. If you want nonstop movida, the streets here are busy with chic bicyclists and Vespa drivers, street vendors, merchants, and locals. There is no rhyme or reason to its winding streets and there's something to see around every corner, so take pleasure in a spontaneous wander.
