We stayed for 4 nights and from the staff we got everything we asked (also nice smile and care during all stay) so thanks for that! The inside of hotel - newly renovated and clean. Rooms are quite big, with tv, small fridge. Maybe only the location is an issue to consider - the plus that it is near centre... More

It was the first time in Rome for both my girlfriend and myself, so we wanted to be close to everything, and that's exactly what we got with Santa Maria B&B. We stayed 4 nights. This is in a very good location, near a lot of restaurants. Extremely close to a metro, which was very convenient! Walking distance to all... More

I stayed at this hotel a few days ago and I had a good experience. There is no 24 hour reception, so about a week before I arrived, the staff emailed me to ensure that I was still coming, and also to give me directions. The hotel is very close to the nearest metro and is in a safe neighborhood,... More

The room was very clean, big, with a TV and a large bathroom. On-the-other-hand the street was very loud at night with much traffic. And next to the metro A station Vittorio Emanuele is a little park (200meters from the B&B) where drug addicts stay at night... NOTHING FOR YOUNG GIRLS or SINGLE LADIES!!!! It was really terrible when one... More

We stayed in Santamaria Inn for 5 nights. It is located close to Termini Station and The Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore which is the largest church in Rome. We walked to Coliseum and a Forum. The interior design of a building, where the Inn is located on the third floor is nice, clean and all marble (which helps during... More

The location is a short bus ride from the attractions, but you MUST know which bus lines to take. This hotel would be perfect for college travel, or traveling with your significant other, NOT children. The hotel is hard to find, as there is only a tiny sign on the doorway, and 135€ is steep for what I got. When... More

After searching for a couple of weeks to find a well located, well priced hotel or B&B with all being sold out or just out of my price range, I came across Santa Maria. The photos were ok, and I thought, " I can handle this, it's only for 3 days and I'll be sight seeing and shopping, so I... More

The best aspect of this 'hotel' is that it is very well located, and for a hotel situated in this area you pay a lot more. The rooms are ok, not too fancy. I didnt like the bed covers. An old ugly blanket that looke very dated. No garbage bin in the room and tv channels are ONLY in italian.... More

We have stayed here during October 2013 for few days whilst our city break for Rome. Even though this is not branded hotel, we found this is better than a large hotel. Everything needed was there. The room was large, spacious and look nice with a balcony view. The only issue is to locate this hotel as it was located... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
