Small hotel, just one floor in a building in urgent need of a repainting. Don't be scared of the entrance: the hotel is well maintained, clean, good rooms, friendly staff. You could do considerably worse in this price range, particularly in a tourist city like Rome.

To caveat this review, Rome is like Paris. Hotels will always be a bit grim and expensive, so to give it a 3, is a Roman 3 (III). By Rome's standards, the location couldn't be better. Walking distance to all the main sights, with the longest walks being to the colosseum, being half and hour, and to the station at... More

What a nice place ! The good : ideal location, quiete and peaceful, very nice cosy rooms. Nice furniture. Private owners, motivated. The 'to be improved' : wifi not working properly, need to improve some functionalities in the bathroom but they are almost there. I would return for sure without a doubt. The breakfast is not really good but nice... More

Loved my stay with my teenage son at Hotel 939. Been to Rome a few times and this is by far one of the best value for money hotels I've stayed in. Great location, brilliant staff, lovely rooms. Thanks for a really wonderful time 939, we'll be back soon

We found this hotel in R. Steves book. It is a great location, close to the Spanish Steps and the Pantheon. The room and bathroom were clean and the staff all spoke English which was important as my wife and I are both in our 60's and do not speak Italian. There is an elevator that is very helpful since... I know Rome, so had chosen this hotel for its location right in the middle of everything. Equidistant between Spanish Steps, Piazza del Popolo, Pantheon, and not so much further to the Vatican. From previous reviews we had not expected a lift (70 steps) but there is one. Not only that, but the receptionist came and lifted our bags up... More

Keeping hotel costs down was a top priority when planning my two 1/2 week vacation in Europe. When it came to Rome,  I took Rick Steves' advice regarding hotel location.  He said in Rome  you want your hotel to be near the Pantheon and boy was he right.  Lodging in this neighborhood can be pricey, but I still needed to... Been there for four nights at August, booked last-minute. reception were very welcoming on arrival, and we came at 2:30am. They served us some food so we won't sleep hungry, and we got a room - economy- which was very small but of high quality. The day afterwards we asked to change a room because the a\c was weak and... We traveled to Rome last fall and stayed at Hotel 939 for five nights based off of Rick Steve's recommendation. We were traveling through Europe for a month and were on somewhat of a tight budget. While this particular hotel was one of the more costly on our trip, I felt it was one of the best values. We stayed... More

The location of the hotel is great, a 7 minute walk from the Spanish steps but this is also the nearest metro station so if you are gonna travel a lot by metro I would suggest something closer to termini for example because there are much cheaper hotels there. If you want to explore Rome mostly on foot this hotel... More
