It's difficult to rate this place: The rooms are very basic but that said you shouldn't be going to Rome to stay in your room all day and so basic is very sufficient. The beds were comfy (unless like my husband you're 6ft plus then your feet will hang off the edge). Franco the host is very friendly and polite... More

This converted apartment is a great place to stay. The railway station location means a bit of a hike to the centro storico, but half an hour along an interesting route does it, whilst other locations are easily accessible by the nearby metro. The area is not anywhere near as seedy as we thought it might be; indeed, we liked... More

This accommodation is one of these that you forget and there is nothing special you would remember about it, it was just okay. We had to wait for Daniela to come around half an hour even though that we agreed that we were arriving during the set time. So we had to ask a stranger in the house to help... More

I booked this "hotel" through booking.com. Unfortunally this is more of a homestay (without a home) than a hotel. There is NO staff at the hotel and IF YOU ARE LUCKY the key to the from door will work. I was lucky when I got back at night. Not very lucky when trying to get in in the morning. Fortunally... More

This is a great brand new B&B, one could literally smell the paint drying. The fittings and furnishings are all new, in all the apearance is comparable to a room in some four stars. We went at Easter and paid €100 per night for a twin room which considering the holiday period, was very good. Remember, this is a B&B... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
