Location makes it easy to walk everywhere; very central. The rooms were very clean and large. Units are on 3rd floor and there is an elevator. This place felt private and secure. The staff was pleasant and very helpful. The wifi signal was good and the temperature was easy to adjust in the room. Nice prosecco treat in the evening.... More

I chose this hotel after reading the previous reviews and it certainly lives up to its reputation. I was planning a surprise trip for my husband and wanted something a little different. When you arrive, you only see a door between the pizza outlet and the Chinese restaurant... Don't be put off, the interior is much better! If you have... More

I highly recommend this little hidden gem of a 5 room hotel in the heart of Rome, overlooking the Largo Argentina ruins which is also a cat sanctuary with dozens of cats rome-ing in the area. The serve we got at this hotel was amazing, warm and so accommodating! They spoke English which was a plus. The room was very... More

It's been our third booking in a row, and we didn't regret: same kind and helpful staff, same clean room. The rooms with a view may come with some noise, too, but after a long stroll on the streets of Rome or queueing for hours in front of museums or exhibitions, one shouldn't have any problem sleeping... The residence is... More

The hotel is very conveniently located within easy walking distance of the Forum, Colosseum and Pantheon. This is not a chain hotel with bar or restaurant and if that is what you want look elsewhere and pay twice as much. It is an excellent small hotel. The bedroom was large and well equipped. The bathroom was modern and the suite... More

We stayed at the Residenza Gens Julia for four days at the end of April early May. We have nothing but positive comments about the hotel and its location. Although there are buses and tramways just outside the hotel, we decided to walk everywhere as the hotel is well centralized, about 20 minutes to the Colosseum, 30 minutes to the... More

Phenomenal customer service. Ernesto and Sergio went above and beyond. Prosecco at check in and each evening around 5 or 6 when we returned to the room. A free bottle of water each day. Free umbrellas to use. My luggage was lost and Sergio called and checked for it daily as well as assisted with reservations. These guys understand great... More

Right smack in the middle of the ancient ruins of Rome. Charming place, immaculately clean and a very large bathroom by European standards. We loved it. You can get to any of the most popular destinations within minutes and walking helps to burn off the calories from all the great food and wine.

This BB is located right in the center of ancient Rome and 2 minutes from the Jewish Ghetto. Our room was big and had all the conveniences, Actually the entrance, elevator and room were a bit rundown (we are a somewhat spoiled) . Ernesto and his brother who are in attendance are very friendly and trying to help in everyway.... More

The location of Residenza Gens Julia is perfect for visiting the ancient ruins of Rome. The Largo di Torres d'Argentina where Caesar was killed is right out the door. The Portico d'Ottavia is within walking distance and lots of buses stop right there. If you want dinner reservations made by Ernesto, make sure you talk with him before going out... More

Staying in Ghetto

Neighborhood Profile
Ghetto
The mini-neigborhood Ghetto holds tight to its reputation as a stand-alone area thanks to its nearly 300-year history as the home to Rome’s Jewish community. Times changed in the 20th century, but the tiny area still retains its mix of tradition, community, and history. Ancient and medieval architectural design frames apartments, bakeries, shops, and restaurants. Friends and families are the pulse of the neighborhood, keeping company on the Via del Portico d’Ottavia. The Ghetto observes the traditional Jewish Shabbat: businesses close from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown.
