The place is very clean, everything works, fast and free WiFi and very friendly and helpful personel. I had a room with a little balcony and a view over parts of rome and down to a nice park. The furniture is plain, and simple, stony, shiny floor, a woriking, warm shower, a plugs at each bed and in the bathroom.... More

This was what we were recommended when planning our trip to Rome. And we are happy that we followed the recommendation. Villa Maria is situated in a very calm non-touristic area just outside the wall, close to Trastevere. Bus to the center of Rome is easily catched 5 minutes from the hotel. Our room was big with a nice balcony... More

We were very happy with our hotel, it was very clean and - untypically for rome - in a very calm area, but still close to the city and the most imporant sights (20-30min walk). Furthermore, there are diferent options of public transport. The breakfast was suprisingly good (for italian conditions) and the staff was friendly. We really enjoyed our... More

Nice and cosy hotel, very clean, with private bathroom, friendly stuff, very good wi-fi connection, nice breakfast, near to Trastevere, not too far from the historic center (we used to go there on foot).

Villa Maria is in the upmarket district of Monteverde - out to the west of the city on top of the Janiculum - the Gianicolo Hill. It is run by nuns but the only sign of that is that there is the odd cross on the wall, no bar and a slightly restrained, cloistered feel. The staff are very genteel... More

This medium size hotel is located up the hill from the hustle and bustle of its Trastevere neighborhood. It is clean and modern at least modern in its fixtures and fittings ie elegant glass sliding doors that automatically great you at the front entrance. I believe it is run by a catholic order. It is located on a quiet street... More

Family trip three rooms three days 2007. See website for photos, rates availablity. Facility is clean, showers, very comfortable rooms, nice Bfst. Desk staff friendly, English speaking, will make call for Taxi, and if dinner desired, make reservation at desk for eve. dinner. There is bus transport to Basilica, city nearby. I also agree with the other reviews: the staff was very helpful and kind, rooms were clean and we had a very nice view of Rome and the garden next to the hotel. Besides, it's very easy to get to train station Trastevere by bus and to go to the city center by either bus or tram. Trastevere itself is... More

I stayed in this hotel in the end of July 2013 for 2 nights. I booked 2 rooms, 1 for 2 persons and 1 for 3 persons. The room is big enough, but the 3-persons room is a little bit smaller than the 2-persons room. The reception opens 24 hours. At the back of the reception there is a machine... More

We spent a week at this hotel / B&B and we were very happy here. It's a great location to walk to all the sights in Rome, and there are good eating places in Trastevere too. The room was pretty big and our private bathroom was also perfect. We got towels too which got changed when needed. Friendly and kind... More

Staying in Monteverde

Neighborhood Profile
Monteverde
Above the city on the Janiculum hill, Monteverde is Rome’s popular "getaway" neighborhood, coveted for its greenery. Rome's largest urban park, Villa Pamphili, is the area's centerpiece with affordable prices and peace and quiet. Monteverde is just far enough away from the center to feel like you’re on a Roman holiday and close enough to feel the lure of Rome's chaos. Though its downside is the lack of scheduled public transport, this family-oriented area is literally a well-deserved walk in the park.
