I travelled to Rome in August, and stayed at the Five Oscars Inn, based on the recommendation of a friend who had been there before. The B&B was very easy to find from Stazione Termini, which is the arrival point of nearly all travellers to Rome.
Because it is so near such a principal street of Rome (Via Nazionale, which leads to the Altare della Patria at one end, and Piazza della Repubblica at the other) there were many people, including tourists, milling around on our route from the station, even though we arrived late at night. This was reassuring. There is nothing worse than looking lost down some back street of some European city at night. Or placing your faith in a taxi driver who you have no idea how much you will have to pay extra because of that “just off the train” look you exude from every pore at these times. We were greeted on arrival at reception by a very pleasant local girl, who was more than happy to advise us in English on the best places to eat nearby...
