PLUS 1. Good location. 10 minutes walk to Colosseum and Foro Romano. 2. Friendly staff. The staff (Francesca) gave us on the day of our arriving some advices for sightseeing and restaurants. 3. Low price. MINUS 1. The hostel is hard to find. There is no sign on the street. 2. When we arrived, no staff was there to open... More

This hostel is more like staying at a small bed and breakfast or so, and rather than get the hotel feel, you get that stay at home, local home feel. There are either 3 or 4 rooms at the most, but the price is awesome for what you get. The room itself is very nice, as well as the shower.... More

A very nice, feel-like-home place, a few minutes walk from the Coliseum. It is true that there's not much of a choice for breakfast and we didn't get fresh towels during our 4 day stay but this didn't really bother us as the price offered is great compared to the rest of Rome. There are plenty of places with the... More

This hostel have pretty amazing location, but don't expect any comfort. Except one huge silverfish i didn't notice any bugs, so it seems that this problem was solved (or there are no bugs during winter). Some fruits and cheap packed croissants were good for breakfast, but kettle was so messed up so i couldn't even make a tea in the... More

Bugs, everywhere! At least 130 we killed. Avoid this place, however the owner Francesca is probably a nice person, she doesn t really know how to deal with her badly infected hostel. She tried to do her best by using a spray, but everyday again we found bugs:behind paintings on the wall, in the frame of the bed, in the... More

My wife and I have been traveling for months and staying in mostly hostels. Hostels in Rome had mixed reviews and were all overpriced. We decided on Ape Latina because we could get our own private room at a cheaper rate that what we would have paid for 2 dorm beds in some locations. It is only a 5-10min walk... More

We stayed in Ape Latina in April 2013. Very friendly owners made our stay the most pleasant and comfortable with assisting us in best places to go and best places to eat. Rooms were clean and nice, equipped with all you need. It is really close to Coliseum so location is perfect. For the reasonable price you have even more... More

Showed up to the front door and was greeted so kindly by Francesca. she showed us a map and gave us great tips of the city. she brought us fruit to our room to welcome us. That made my whole stay worth while. The room was spacious and clean and had a private bathroom. Would definitely recommend it. So close... More

Staying in Monti

Neighborhood Profile
Monti
Monti is Rome’s rebel yell. This neighborhood just west of Termini train station mixes grit with fun as it continues to fight for its reputation as a magnet for the artsy, alternative, and hipster. Every season, quirky boutiques and food spots sprout up on its cobblestone streets. The neighborhood supports unique and homegrown businesses that cater to its longtime residents as well as hipsters on the hunt. Hang out at Piazza della Madonna dei Monti anytime after lunch and you'll always find something going on.
