You would book La Casa del Capitano because you want to stay in characterful old property overlooking a historic square but can't afford what's on offer in, say, Piazza Navona or by the Trevi Fountain. Without that thought in mind, or something like it, there's not a lot of point because there are a few negatives about this place: a... More

This Bed and Breakfast was in a great location. In Piazza Bernini. It was close to the metro, across the street and we could walk to many sites. We walked to many churches, the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain. the breakfast was very good and the room was quite large.

We had booked for 5 days at Casa del Capitano. A couple of days before our arrival, we received an email with instruction to ring the intercom button with the correct name. Reaching there, we were buzzed in immediately. It is 4 flights of stairs, no assistance with luggage provided, the housekeeping person let us in, showed us the room,... More

Unfortunately while we were their the Barberini fountain was undergoing maintenance, but realistically there was nothing our hosts could do about that. Staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. The room was ensuite, large, air conditioned and wonderfully furnished. It is situated in a perfect part of Rome as all the attractions are within 10mins walking distance (we used taxis if... More

you are lucky if you get to stay here! the gracious, kind owners (who are not totally fluent in english but good enough - certainly far better than my italian) fix breakfast every morning & roll it into your room on a lovely cart to enjoy in your own room. our room was more than huge with a king bed... This place is well located, very close to the Metro, Spanish Steps, and Trevi Fountain...15 minute or so walk to the Villa Borghese and Gardens too. The couple who run the place are nice and accommodating, and they serve a very good breakfast every morning. The only reason this doesn't get 5 stars is due to the noisy location. If... More

Not so much a hotel, more like staying with a family, without the distraction of dealing with the family! Very inexpensive for the area, and located right in the middle of everything, with a Metro station just a few feet away and lots of restaurants all around. There are only three rooms, we were in number 3 which contains a... More

My only complaint about our stay was a mix up when we first arrived, to find that our room had been given to someone else. Luckily, we had an Italian friend with us who was able to sort it all out,i'm not sure how easy it would have been to resolve without him. As it happened they were able to... More

This hotel was such an amazing choice for us - I loved it and would return to the same place next time we are in Rome. It's not a hotel at all - it's really an apartment, which made me feel like I was actually living in Rome (instead of being a tourist). The apartment is small and has a... More
