Less than 5 minutes walk from Vatican, couple block from the subway train-A line, surrounded by restaurants. Since we like to have a local food, there is a local restaurant just around call Bacio di Puglia also a bit further in Borgo Pio there is Pizzeria Rosticceria Vecchio Borgo. They both open till about 9pm, ready for to go food... More

Our room at Il Passetto was tidy and compact. The draperies and bedspread are quite worn but clean. The building (and rooms within) is incredibly handy to the Vatican, so if that is on your list of sights, we would suggest a stay here. We should note that the guest house is on the 3rd floor with a small rickety... More

We stayed here for 5 days, the hotel is right next to the Vatican and you can walk everywhere from the hotel, the coliseum is about a 40 min walk. There's plenty of restaurants close to the hotel and they stay open pretty late. The room was ok, nice and clean, bed was comfortable and the window opened on to... More

We did have a bit of a hard time locating the guest house, until we referred to the address. Moreover its found on a busy place in between restaurants. Had to ring the bell to go in the building & had to use an old fashioned elevator (i only see on movies). Clean & comfortable room. Very convenient location, just... More

Seriously, if your goal in Rome is to concentrate on the Vatican, this is the place for you. It is a 3 minute walk to the Piazza of St. Peter's, a 5 minute walk to the Vatican Museum, a 5 minute walk to Ottaviano Metro, and there are busses and trams across the street which will take you anywhere in... This was a nice little efficiency apartment with an open floor plan and its own bathroom. Very clean and onsite manager was very nice. Note 1: it is a second story unit in the middle of downtown so it is easy to miss. (Look closely at street address and trust the address number. You will have to be buzzed in... More

This was my second stay at Il Passetto (previously in 2010), and this time I brought my wife. We stayed 5 nights, and it was just as lovely as the first time. Our room was bright and newly painted. Breakfast was personalized to our tastes. The B&B is located on the third floor, but there is an centrally-located elevator for... More

I had 4 very nice days in Rome with my mom. I found this accomodation on the internet and honestly i booked it because there was like an 80 % discount on the rooms, so i thought i should just grab this offer. I was not dissappointed at all..... The accomodation is in a 5-storey building, on the 2nd floor,... More

We ate here one our first night in Rome and it was fantastic. I speak passable Italian, but I find that as soon as most people find out you speak English, they automatically switch over. I enjoyed the fact that our waiter here humored me a bit and let me practice my Italian "skills" while still being perfectly fluent in... More

Recently returned from a 4 day trip in Rome at Il Passetto choosing this property primarily due to its location to the Vatican and also being off season at a very reasonable price. The room was spacious, cleaned to a very high standard every morning with breakfast delivered to your room between 8-10am consisting of a croissant of your choosing,... More

Staying in Vatican / Borgo

Neighborhood Profile
Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighborhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighborhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.
