I love the Trastevere neighbourhood so I stayed in Sonnino hotel. Great price and very friendly staff as well who was very helpful in arranging an airport service at 3am. Has free wifi and elevator so you don't have to drag your suitcase down the steps.

I stayed here in September, great location if you want to be in Trastevere, and the room was spacious and clean. Customer service was appalling however, our key for the front door broke in the lock on our first night, and the receptionist couldnt have cared less. He advised us there was a number to call but had failed to... More

Nice budget hotel for a city break in bustling Trastevere. The room was pretty big and clean. The wireless worked great. Many bars and restaurants right next door. Perfect location within walking distance to most of the historical sites. The elevator is very small, but works fine. Great place to rest and take a shower after exploring all the wonders... More

Very welcoming and easy to access. This is a very cool little hotel inside an old mixed-use building in the heart of Trastevere. Easy walk to so many sights. The room we had was quiet and well-equipped.

This is not a luxury hotel but for a family of 3 or 4, it was fine. It has free wi fi, flat screen TV, very clean, and one thing different than the typical Rome hotels, the room was big. Plenty of space to move around with kids and put your luggage around the room. It also has a desk... More

Terrific position and across from trams to the centre of Rome and the train station too. Very helpful host Sirus and rooms are quiet at the back. Look for the gold coloured building right on Viale Trastevere. Ring the bell and take the little lift to the fourth floor.Nicely furnished and good bed! Next to a great takeaway pizza shop... More

We had a wonderful stay here for our first three days in Rome. The staff went out of their way to help us by giving us restaurant recommendations, telling us what bus to catch, printing off our train tickets, arranging to have us picked up from the airport, and more. We all felt at home here and would not hesitate... More

We stayed here straight after a 22 hour flight. It was a late arrival and they stayed up waiting for us. It is petit, clean and ideally located. Only a short walk to all the touristy places you might want to go. The staff are lovely and will help you any way they can. We liked it so much we... More

We stayed here for two nights in early June 2014, during a heatwave where we spent three days slogging around in 38 degrees. So the first thing to say is that the air conditioning is very good at Sonnino Suites. As is the service; we were looked after by Cyrus for our booking and throughout our stay and he was... More

This hotel has a very convenient location - not far from famous sights. There is near the hotel several cafes where you will be able to enjoy nice coffee and croissants. The staff are very hospitable. When we had lost a way a little, we rang up in the hotel and we were kindly explained how find a building. There... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
