This is a clean, spacious, private hostel/hotel. It is a bit more expensive than a hostel but honestly you get what you pay for and do yourself a favour as MBC1234 writes, do not sacrifice comfort on your trip. Paying a little extra for a good night's sleep is worth it. I have already recommended it to people who have... More

Stayed for three nights on short notice. 4 people in two twin rooms for one night and the "suite" for two nights which was a double in one room and a large fold out sofa in another. Also had a kitchen. Cost 330'euros . Very reasonable given: 3 minutes walk to termini and metro. Easy access to all major attractions... More

Great place to stay for young couples. Located a short walk from most major attractions and the station is only 1minute away which allows you to get to the Vatican in no time. Staff were great and I would recommend to any couple I know to stay here!

My son found the Blue Hostel online and suggested we stay here for our family holiday. I was a bit apprehensive initially but it was unfounded. It's central, convenient and good value for money. The best part is their recommendations of restaurants which were spot on. You need to climb several flights of stairs so be wary if you have... More

The room was a good size, bathroom nice, clean and working well. A very nice option for anyone on a budget in Rome. The staff is friendly and very helpful. Their recommendations were spot on and saved us a lot of headache. Everything is in walking distance or a short economic cab ride.

Great base of operations! Close to Roman Forum and Colosseum. Our flat was clean, white and full of light. Helpful hosts who answered all our questions and showed us some decent places to visit for food and drink. We aim to be back next year!

We stayed for a few days at the Blue Hostel. Discovered it via TripAdvisor. We loved it. The service quality is outstanding, the tips we received were amazing. The room was great, the location was even better: just outside of Santa Maria Maggiore, the subway station 4 min away. Everything is easy to reach, incl. the main train station Termini... More

The hostel is in a great location - 5-10 mins walk from Termini station. Yes it's 2-3 flights of stairs up but it's worth it for the tranquility this place offers in a busy city. Our room was a good size with comfy beds, a good size wardrobe & 2 full length mirrors. There is a also a kettle &... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
