The Blue Hostel is perfect for a place to stay in Rome! The rooms are really homely and comfortable, and the hostel is in a great location - easily within walking distance from all the main attractions. Upon arrival, Ercole gave us a personalised map of Rome with lots of recommendations of where to eat etc and this was so... More

Simple , clean apartments, pretty close to all the main attractions. Staff very helpful. Watch out for the stairs. Good idea to take advantage of taxi offer as airport a reasonable distance away. Enjoy

Ercole and Alessandro were extremely accommodating to us during our five-night stay. The room was charming, and the location was superb. Blue Hostel's location made it easy for us to hop from great restaurant to great bar in the Monti district, and with a landmark like Santa Maria Maggiore, finding our way home was never difficult. Highly Recommended!

This place is really hidden at night. That's part of the charm. A small sign directs to the intercom. Pass through one door, and then another and then up 2 sets of musty paint faded stairs, you think you are a resident of an Mussolini era apartment block. But once in side, a small an cozy hotel awaits a little... More

Very nice, newly refurbished apartments! Clean and spacious. I would definitely stay there again! Excellent experience Ercole is super friendly and know the city very well. His custom made map is the bomb. No reason looking for accommodation anywhere else

Outstanding accommodation, perfectly matched to the online description. Staff were friendly, welcoming and very helpful, outlining key landmarks and features of the neighbourhood which made my stay idyllic. The room itself was spotless and the bed very comfortable. I would highly recommend this hostel for comfort, privacy, relaxation and excellent proximity to key landmarks within walking distance - ideal for... More

I recently traveled to Rome solo and found Blue Hostel to be ideal for my needs. If you are looking for a clean comfortable room that offers a quiet nights sleep. If you want to be within walking distance of a number of different sites and great places to eat. If value is important to you without having to sacrifice... More

Blue Hostel is a room inside of an old convent. It was done up nice and had a very home-y feel. It is nestled in the heart of Rome near the Saint Maria Magiorie church. Hercule, the owner, is incredibly friendly and helpful. He has his own special map, and his suggestions for what to visit, when to visit, and... More

I was a bit nervous with the "hostel" title but this location was private and comfortable. We were looking for an inexpensive option while in Rome and this was a great find. The location was wonderful and they were very friendly and helpful.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
