We loved staying at the Blue Hostel. We were sad to leave. Andrea was great. He was always helpful, showed us the map in detail and carried out bags. The room was quiet and was a good size for 2 people. Very close to the metro and the hop on hop off tour buses. About 5 minute walk from Roma... More

We read about Blue Hostel in the lonely planet, and they were right - a perfect, quiet hidden gem centrally located in Rome. The rooms were clean and well decorated and the staff helpful and informative about the local area. We had booked a hostel room which we were totally thrilled with - overlooking a quiet courtyard and nicely decorated;... More

I struggled to find a decent hotel in Rome that was a reasonable price, so I was relieved when I stumbled upon The Blue Hostel. It's conveniently situated near Termini Station, but towards a nice neighbourhood surrounded by lovely restaurants. About a 15 minute walk from the Colosseum. The room was clean, quiet and tastefully decorated with a comfortable bed.... More

We had a fantastic stay at the Blue Hostel, Rome. I am so pleased we decided to book this accommodation as it was well above our expectations. Ercole was really helpful when we booked and when we arrived we were welcomed by a member of staff who did a great job of showing us all the places on the "infamous... More

Great stay at Blue Hostel! It was an easy walk from Termini Station. The room and private bathroom were clean and spacious. Check in was easy and fast. The gentleman that helped us check in was very informative and gave us a great map and recommendations for dining. I did not see a lift/elevator in the building so some rooms... More

I would definitely stay at Blue Hostel again if I went back to Rome. Blue Hostel has an apartment feel with hotel services - they own a couple hallways of a building of apartments. As soon as you walk out the door of the building, you walk into the bustling life of Rome. Staff helped my friend and I get... More

We had a great time in Rome thanks to the wonderful staff and great location of the Blue Hostel. This place just cannot be beat! The staff really made us feel like we were part of the family and patient answered all of our questions before we arrived and while we were there. I would recommend the Blue Hostel to... More

Blue Hostel is situated in a great location, close to Termini and the metro, but also a comfortable walking distance from many of the key sites and Romes centre. The area has a nice mix of traditonal Italian restaurants and fine dining options, plus the bonus of the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore a few seconds away. Our room was... More

We had a great stay in Blue Hostel. The appartement was perfect for the 4 of us. Having breakfast in Panella, walking through the park to the Colloseum, and having great meals in the restaurants our hosts proposed. A place you would like to keep a hidden secret. Clean, spacious, stylish , everything you need without being posh. Not being... More

If it's a toss up between a hotel and a nice hostel- stay here for sure (coming from a couple that doesn't stay in hostels often). Book well in advance and feel confident that you will be very happy with the room. Hard to find at first as it seems to be in an old apartment building. No elevator but... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
