This hotel room is hard to find, but once you find it, you will be glad you did! The hotel is walking distance from the Colosseum. The room is big and in new condition and there is free internet. The price is very affordable and it is nice to have a kitchen, especially when traveling with a family. The innkeeper... More

This "bed and breakfast" is actually a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment with a kitchen. We rented one of the rooms and another couple who had a small child stayed in the 2nd room. My husband and I stayed here for three nights in August 2010 and paid 50 euro per night. LOCATION: Great location, a 10 minute walk from... More

I don't know if this proprietor is running a scam or what, but when we arrived at the hotel, no one answered the door. We asked someone in the building to find a way to get in and check in and he had no idea that there was a hotel in the building. He called the proprietor and she told... More

Although this was clean and comfortable, the furnishings were a bit dated. The room was very spacious and the bathroom was across the hall - we did have sole use. The owner does not live on site, so you get your own breakfast - so you can suit yourself when you have it. Plenty to eat and if you want,... More

This "B and B" is located a short walk from the central Rome station ("Termini") and a block from the Metro. There are two rented rooms and two bathrooms but both are off the shared central kitchen. The only breakfast food provided was tea and cookies, but a full kitchen is available for self-service cooking. The rooms are large and... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
