The hotel located very close to the metro station . The rooms are sparse by American standards. The staff is friendly and helpful . They will attempt to answer your questions and speak English . Note you will be asked to pay a 3 dollar per person per night city tax. They only take cash . There is no elevator... More

I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Rome on a budget. It's a 2-star hotel, with 2-star amenities, and, most importantly, a 2-star price tag. I stayed here with two friends for 3 nights, and we found it clean and comfortable, although basic. It's a good base for sightseeing as it is close to Termini station and walking distance... More

For the price this was a great location next to the train station and many of the major attractions. There is only wifi in the small lobby area and if you have luggage you will have to take it up several flights of stairs - otherwise a good value for the money. The staff is helpful to tourists and speak... More

Considering the small price, we arrived with low expectations but it was a great surprise. Pros: - very convenient location: 5 mins to the metro, 20 to the Colosseum, Fontana di Trevi, etc - very clean: our room was always smelling fresh when we returned after wondering in the city - 3 out of 4 receptionists speaking English and all... We have stayed here three times in the last few years and have decided to try a different hotel for our next trip to Rome. I found the wifi in reception very useful. Breakfast was a bit cramped and the variety is not as good as last time we stayed. The sink in the bathroom leaked onto the floor each... More

The hotel was very average, though nice simple decor and a comfy bed the room we had was by the main road and it seemed very noisy even in the middle of the night . The location was good though within walking distance from a number of attractions and easy access to the station. The bathroom was another bad point... More

When you visit Rome you need to be near everything because driving is not an option. This hotel is located very near Santa Maria Maggiore church which is in the route of all the hop-on hop-off buses. It was also perfect for us because it was summer and the rooms have air conditioned (complete MUST in Rome), although it does... More

Convenient location -- near the Termini, near the stop of the city tour buses, near a convenience store, near a minor basilica that houses a segment of the alleged pillar upon which Jesus was flogged and tortured.
Clean room -- air conditioning was ok too, bathroom was a bit small.
Courteous staff -- though he could not express himself... More

My friend and I stayed in May and had booked a twin room but on arrival they had allocated us a double. They immediately offered us 2 singles for the first night without us even having to ask then offered to move us for the remainder of our stay which was fine. The rooms are sparse but we did not... Good Points: Location; short walk from Termini train station, walking distance to all attractions, small quiet lane way. Rooms; clean, simple, a/c. Old building - we stayed across the road and there is a great spiral staircase that leads to rooms. Bad Points; Staff - many rotating (young) staff, most spend the majority of their time smoking out the front... More

Staying in Monti

Neighborhood Profile
Monti
Monti is Rome’s rebel yell. This neighborhood just west of Termini train station mixes grit with fun as it continues to fight for its reputation as a magnet for the artsy, alternative, and hipster. Every season, quirky boutiques and food spots sprout up on its cobblestone streets. The neighborhood supports unique and homegrown businesses that cater to its longtime residents as well as hipsters on the hunt. Hang out at Piazza della Madonna dei Monti anytime after lunch and you'll always find something going on.
