This is a converted convent, and it's a great place to stay. when you walk in there is a beautiful small chapel, check it out if it's open. The building itself is amazing, the art and architecture are worth walking around. There's a pseudo bar that is set up, but you can take your drink and go where you like.... More

I was drawn to this hotel from their excellent reviews, but unfortunately, I have already encountered two issues with their online Booking Service, Webhotelier before I have even set foot onto the actual location First off they advertise a 15% discount off published rates when you book three nights; I booked three nights and never received the discount. Secondly they... More

The Donna Camilla Savelli is a lovely hotel, perfect stay in the quite Trastevere neighbourhood and 20 minutes walk from the centre of Rome. The hotel is a lovely restored old abby, with attentive friendly staff and nice rooms. The place has a nice garden (not in use during winter) and serve good breakfast. Above all - the location -... Stayed for over a week during Christmas week. Wonderful location, easy to see major sights. Hotel continues to shine and gets better from last year. Breakfast is very good, includes enough different things so all in our party were satisfied. I thought the staff was a bit too strict in enforcing minor rules but perhaps that's their policy. Overall, a... More

The Donna Camilla Savelli Hotel is a converted 17th century convent designed by Francesco Borromini. The hotel has plenty of charm, including nuns who still inhabit the place. The Trastevere location is terrific, close to many things but just a bit separate. The staff are friendly and helpful. There are wonderful views from the roof-top terrace.

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
