The hotel itself exudes ancient character while being modern, well appointed and very comfortable My husband and I came to Rome and after a pitiful experience (unprecedented to us) with Casa Campo De Fiori (http://www.casacampodefiori.com/ ) found this much superior and magnificent hotel conveniently located in Trastevere. We stayed at Donna Camilla Savelli hotel for three short nights. Located on... More

The setting of the hotel is brilliant and is within walking distance to some good restaurants. We received a free upgrade to an amazing room with three balconies overlooking the courtyard. The breakfast was fairly basic and needs a bit of an upgrade. Other than that, this is one of the loveliest hotels we've stayed in.

We stayed here with our family of four in a suite. The room was spacious and bathroom perfect for four. Great location in Trastevere and incredibly kind and helpful staff. Very cool setting too in a monastery. We were able to walk to all the sites, no problem.

This booking was made through my work in an extremely busy period, so I hadn't looked at where I was staying at all. Imagine my surprise, when instead of the standard business hotel, I arrive in the most peaceful courtyard of a fortress. Absolutely beautiful surroundings, the rooms are high-ceilinged, everything decorated in the style, clean and convenient. Best night... More

I have been here both privately and for business. The position is really good, few minutes walk from everywhere in Trastevere, and maybe 20 minutes from the center of Rome. At the same time it is very calm around, so one can sleep very well. The structure is really nice, in an old cloister with a great garden, a beautiful... More

We love staying in Trastevere, and we were looking forward to staying at the Don Camilla Savelli, but ended up having a very unpleasant experience with the hotel's administration. We booked two nights through the hotel web-site. We followed the instructions, indicated that we were two adults and a 3-year-old, and were quoted a price to which we agreed. Then,... More

Dear Anthony B, First of all, we really hope your son has, by now, completely recovered and that you all are good. We were very disappointed after reading your review: we really care about our guests’ needs, always try to fulfill their requests and work hard to leave them a good impression and memories of their stay. The most important... More

I love Trastevere: it is more lively and genuine than the Center of Rome. The Don Cailla Savelli is an amazing combination of different building, from pieces of a fortress, church and convent. The feeling of a cloister around a beautiful garden while the terrazza allows a stunning view of Rome make a stay peaceful and almost religious (there are... More

We stayed at the Donna Camilla Savelli Hotel October 2014 for several nights. It was my first time to Rome, and I really liked that it was tucked away (our professional driver was having trouble finding it, it is very unassuming). It was a convent at one time, with a full church downstairs that holds mass. The rooms are comfortable... More

This is a converted convent, and it's a great place to stay. when you walk in there is a beautiful small chapel, check it out if it's open. The building itself is amazing, the art and architecture are worth walking around. There's a pseudo bar that is set up, but you can take your drink and go where you like.... More

I was drawn to this hotel from their excellent reviews, but unfortunately, I have already encountered two issues with their online Booking Service, Webhotelier before I have even set foot onto the actual location First off they advertise a 15% discount off published rates when you book three nights; I booked three nights and never received the discount. Secondly they... More

I am very sorry to hear that you are going to start your holiday with this bitterness, and really hope we will be capable of reversing all these negative feelings. We don’t want to put blames on others, but to be honest the website you’ve used to reserve is not the official one ( www.voihotels.com/it/savelli ), but an Internet portal... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
