We loved this hotel! Gracious staff, lovely room, good breakfast -- all around a wonderful experience. We especially appreciated the lovely courtyard. Our room was large and well equipped. Bathroom and amenties were better than average and hotel staff was always gracious and accommodating. Located in the Trastevere section of the city - it's away from the main tourist areas... More

My wife and I stayed at the hotel for a few nights at the end of our stay in Italy. We wanted to end our holiday on a high and Donna Camilla Savelli helped achieve this. The property is unique as it was previously a convent and is still in use. It is an oasis for weary travellers as it... More

I almost don't want to write a review, as I would like to keep this my little secret. This hotel is like no other I have stayed in. It is a beautiful monastery which has been part turned into a boutique hotel - the other part still a working monastery with beautiful Church too. Once inside the large entrance gates,... More

This place is just amazing. A beautiful monastery turned into a very exclusive, wonderfully run, peaceful boutique hotel in the very heart of Trastevere. I'd like also to express again my deepest regret for the way I misbehaved with regard to an unfortunate episode that has involved three lovely staff directly, and many more indirectly. I accused them of wrongdoing,... More

Five star experience in every way. Best concierge I've experienced. Absolutely awesome hotel with a still working monastery section. A drink under the stars on the rooftop with the view of Rome is hard to beat.

The restoration and transformation of the convent of the “Santa Maria dei Sette Dolori” to a modern luxury hotel is remarkably intelligent and tasteful. The courtyard and building still retains an air of its quietness and peace despite business conferences and travellers. The corridors on the first floor cleverly leave panels open in the ceiling so that as you walk... More

A renovated old monastic setting in Trastevere: the building is impressive and massive, rooms are clean with a distinctive, simple and elegant flare. The internal garden is a tranquil place where breakfast can be enjoyed and it is also a great place to work remotely or to relax. Strongly suggested especially since Trastevere is literally a few steps away, with... More

This hotel exceeded every expectation. A haven of tranquility in a hectic city. We booked two rooms for our daughter and partner and ourselves; both were absolutely beautiful though totally different. Both had windows overlooking a garden where breakfast was taken weather permitting. Breakfast was fantastic with hot and cold options and plenty of pastries and cakes aswell as cheeses... More

We stayed for 3 nights late-May 2015. THE GOOD: Very well-maintained property with a friendly and helpful staff. Our room (“Executive Double”) was very nice with a comfortable bed and ample bathroom with enclosed shower (not all rooms have those). The room overlooked their leafy courtyard and was wonderfully quiet. Less desirable rooms overlook the dreary parking area. The breakfast... More

Me and my wife stayed here for a weekend. We had a wonderful stay in the old monastery with it's own chapel. The garden is fantastic and a lovely place to enjoy a breakfast or a glass of wine. The hotel alo gave a wonderful roof terrace.

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
