Just returned from a 3 night break in Rome staying at this lovely hotel in the Travastere area of Rome. This was my first visit to Rome and I could not have stayed in a better hotel. Travastere is a quaint part of Rome consisting of a maze of cobbled streets and tiny piazzas. You turn a corner and there... More

After reading, we feel even prouder to live in the wonderful Eternal City, and to work in the magical atmosphere only Donna Camilla can offer. We stayed here over Christmas to be close to the apartment of friends in Trastevere. IT is an old monastery that still seems to have a nunnery or abbey or such semi attached which is quaint. The staff were friendly and helpful, the building is old so the walls are very solid which may explain why the free wifi (or... More

Dear Fairway Smooth, Thank you for your nice words, we are very glad you have appreciated the quaint aspect of Donna Camilla! Thank you also for being tolerant with the WiFi problems. We are working very hard to improve the signal, and if you think that until while ago we didn’t have WiFi at all…you can realize how great a... More

Beautiful Hotel. Feels like a castle. Breakfast was more than adequate, considering that italians do not really eat a full breakfast, and the croissant with coffee is enough for them, this buffet gave a lot of choices. The staff is friendly, but do not go extra mile for you. The terrace is beautiful, but it was to cold to hang... More

Dear Natalie K, Thank you very much for your nice review, and for all the tips provided, too. This is really a beautiful building- fun to explore with lots of beautiful details. The staff was very helpful, and the location is excellent too, right in Trastevere. Free onsite parking was very handy as we had a car. My only gripe was the breakfast is not in line with the rates charged- not better than a 2 star hotel.... More

Dear Hello_Bamboo, Thank you very much for your nice comments, we are happy you’ve enjoyed the stay. However, we are trying to improve the... More

Beautiful restored convent offers a peaceful stay in a happening area of Rome - lots of bars and restaurants plus great views of the city. Easy to walk to most central attractions. Rooms comfortable and quiet. Breakfast a little bit boring, but perfectly adequate. Highly recommended.

I saw this hotel on Expedia, (admittedly at the higher end of the price scale), and it looked fantastic. Then I saw it was a DK Choice for "historic" hotels in Rome. It lived up to its billing in all respects. Lovely suite with a view over its internal courtyard; friendly staff; adequate breakfast (all "styles" of food); in a... More

This is my second time at Donna Camilla Savelli Hotel and it's as amazing as I remember. I stayed at Hotel de russi for 4 nights before checking in Donna Camilla Savelli. Hotel de russi falls in another category, it's more refined and trendy, but for over US$1500 a night, I would choose Donna Camilla Savelli without a doubt. I... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
