A short read of reviews of this property shows sharp contrasts of opinion. There is a difference between being booked in by a tour operator and/or choosing the hotel as part of a travel or sightseeing tour with definite objectives. This place is not a "holiday hotel". It is not for sunning or bathing. However it is the ideal place... More

Avoid this hotel. Presumably its listing in Lonely Planet is out of date. It was expensive - 150 euros for a "triple room" (207) which was nothing but a small double room with a sofa bed. The bathroom was tiny - no bath - and the shower drain was partially blocked. Generally all the fittings in the bathroom looked like... More

Our stay at the Caravaggio Hotel was part of a package holiday through British Airways - GBP 670.00 for 6 nights including flight. The room (210) we were given had a view over Piazza Cardinale Sisto Riario Sforza with its obelisk dedicated to San Gennaro (built in 1636 in thanks to the saint for saving Naples from Vesuvius' eruption of... Chose the hotel for its location as previously we had stayed a bit further out. Knew Naples but even by their standards the huge, overflowing rubbish bins outside were a bit much. Reception seemed fine but the room wasn't great. It overlooked a yard and what was almost a tenement block. There were empty bottles and dirty rags left on... More

The location is fine in via libertarian, very central and in the heart oft he old town action. The front desk was very helpful, however, the room was essentially windowless and dark and on departure we were charged a 15 euro "city tax", in cash. The city tax is actually 2.50 euro per person per night as we found out... More

I booked this hotel based on the pictures I saw on the website. First of all we passed thru 10ft of garbage spread on the ground in front of the hotel before getting in. Then they took us to a separte buidling from the reception building into our room. The room looked nothing like the photos. Old blanket, run down... More

My friend and I stayed here for two nights and really liked the hotel a lot! The staff were very friendly and accommodating! The room was a nice size and was very clean. The room was a bit cold at times, but there were plenty of blankets to use, so that was good. The breakfast was wonderful. One morning we... More

Perfectly situated in the dark and ecclectic historic center of Napoli in the shadow of St Gennaros Cathedral this hotel is a great stay for a resonable price. The staff is absolutely attentive and very helpful, I would like to suggest a raise for Antonio our morning concierge. He had a delightful meal laid out for us every morning down... More

Even allowing for differences in standards between the UK and Italy this is not a 4 star hotel. The shower head was broken and had to be held in place by a bottle of shower gel and the water drained away so slowly that you had to turn the shower off mid wash to prevent it overflowing. The fridge was... More
