Love this hotel. Returned year upon year. Staff are so welcoming and remember you each year. Roof top pool and cafe are relaxing and great view of Vesuvius...There's also the garden if you want some shade. Just up from the main square so location is spot on. A visit to Sorrento wouldn't be the same if I didn't stay here.

Everything about this hotel is average. Average location. Not great; there's not much of a view -- but not too bad; it's a fairly quiet neighborhood and quite convenient. Average service. Some of the staff was welcoming and friendly, but many of the workers here were dour, sullen and looked like they would rather be almost anywhere else. Average cleanliness.... More

Having visited this hotel a few times previously but some time ago we were interested to see if things had changed since our last visit. The staff, cleanliness and friendliness of the hotel did not disappoint. The waiters and bar staff are a major part of the experience at any hotel and they were all excellent - they could not... The room was a good size plus a full-size balcony, it was clean, and had effective and unobtrusive air conditioning. And proper, removable coat hangers, which I always like! The king-size bed was very comfortable. Although the balcony was often noisy from the traffic in the street below, the sound insulation was effective and the room was quiet. But the... More

Rooms were large, with reading lights on both sides of the comfortable bed. Room had safe & fridge. AC was very quiet, easy to adjust, and worked very well. Terrific location within easy walking distance to everything - primary shopping area, marinas, main square - but located off main street in quieter area Our room faced the street but we... More

The Grand hotel Cesare Augusto is only 300 metres from Sorrento train station, so is easy to access. If arriving to Sorrento by boat, you would need to get either a taxi, local bus or take the lift up to Sorrento town as all the hotels are on an elevated postion up on the cliffs above the marina. The hotel... More

Although our travel agent booked our stay 4 months in advance, we were informed at check in that they had no rooms for us as they overbooked. Management made arrangements at a comparable hotel about 1 mile out of town and offered free taxi service. After much negotiation, they found rooms for us our last 2 nights in Sorrento. Our... More

Rated as a four star hotel, I can only assume that it is for the location because that is the only positive I can find for this rather dated hotel. The very central location means that access to the delights of Sorrento are almost on the doorstep. Reception, concierge and bar customer service was acceptable but absolutely no 'warmth ' from... 14 day holiday booked through Thomas Cook and traveled with friends. Thoroughly enjoyable experience. The hotel is what it is a well located , clean and friendly middle of the road hotel. Room: 4th floor on the end giving good all around views. Clean, good housekeeping staff. Well furnished but agree could do with tea/coffee facilities. Food: Good choice at... More
