I had been staying in Positano and had to catch a 6am train from Salerno to Rome to go back to Aus, so decided to spend my last day in Salerno. The option was getting up at 4am to make it in time from Positano to Sslerno. ( no thanks! ) This was a great decision & a pleasant surprise.... More

Three friends and I had two rooms total and stayed one night in Salerno. The room was clean and bed was comfortable compared to all the other places we stayed in while in Italy. The shower pressure was awesome! The front desk staff were very accommodating and helpful.

Pluses: very clean, superb location, very friendly proprietor, Mr Gaetano Schiavi. Minuses: bed too soft, no coffee maker in room: wifi signal varied. Others: Breakfast is fine -- typical continental -- pastries, ham and cheese, cereals, coffee. Suggestion to management: (1) change from blanket to duvet; (2) provide coffee maker

We spent 2 nights here, and selected this hotel due to its convenient location: across the square from Salerno's train station. It is also only 2 blocks away from the seafront. The room, on the first floor (2nd floor of the building), had a great view of the plaza, and one of the brilliantly lit Christmas tree. The windows were... More

This hotel on Piazza Vittorio Veneto is ideal for people travelling by train or doing excursions in all directions by train and bus. The old town center is a pleasant 10 minutes walk away through the pedestrianized shopping street Corso Vittorio Emanuele II. We were first given a room on the second floor with a connecting door to a neighboring... More

My wife had dreamed of exploring the Amalfi Coast but our budget didn't include the luxury of shelling out top dollar for our lodging. I also looked forward to visiting the wondrous ancient city of Pompeii and viewing Mount Vesuvius, which is only a short train ride away. The Plaza hotel afforded us the savings so that we could enjoy... More

This was my 2nd stay at Plaza Hotel, Salerno. As requested on my on-line booking through agency, I was allocated a room facing the inner courtyard. The room was spacious for a man on his own, and the bathroom facilities were very clean and the cosmetic toiletries supplied were useful. The Reception staff are alert and professional. The Breakfast offers... More

We stayed here for only one night, en route from Turin to Sicily, but are revising next year's travel plans to include at least two. Perfect location, opposite the station and a welcoming atmosphere, with really helpful staff. We were told by another guest that the owner's grand-father (maybe great grand-father) had built the handsome railway station, building the hotel... More

We wanted somewhere close to the railway station and you could hardly get closer than this one! The room was minimally furnished, but quiet, reasonably large and with a comfortable bed and good bathroom. The staff were very helpful. Good wifi and breakfast.

Salerno seems to be about accessing the Amalfi Coast on a budget - and this was the perfect base. It is DIRECTLY next to the train station, yet we didn't hear a single train from the hotel. It is two short blocks away from the shoreline and may be the closest hotel to the dock, from which ferries are caught.... More
