Everything what you want from a small hotel. The hotel is perfectly positioned in Matera for walking the Sasso. Town comes to life in the evening and all aspects of the hotel were very good. Friendly staff and a good breakfast, including offering good advice on places to visit - would definitely recommend this hotel for your visit to Matera.

A small hotel, very cozy, decorated with an old, yet warm and beautiful, style. We stayed for one night in one of the suites that was big, very clean with beautiful furniture, though the bathroom was on the small side and unfortunately did not seem to get the same attention to details as the rest of the suite. We enjoyed... More

Was at first put off because it was difficult to find parking not easy outside, but plenty of parking by the park 400 yards away. Room clean and comfortable, perfect location for centre of town.good breakfast no view from room which did not matter. a lot of noise (music) in town centre Saturday night but room well insulated. In all fantastic value

Sassi itself is a magical experience. This hotel makes it perfect, the view was overlooking the Sassi and it's close to everywhere. There is a waffle and gelato place close to this hotel and there's a lot of bars around. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was simple and okay. The room was clean.

What can make a holiday stop miserable is poor accommodations and service. Albergo Italia was a gem. Great room, great breakfast, incredible location, a view of the Sassi and a mother and son host that were friendly and helpful in every way. Would recommend this wonderful hotel and staff to any traveler that wants a pleasant experience.

We have just returned from a 4 night stay in the Albergo Italia, Matera. The hotel offered spacious, clean and comfortable room, in an almost perfect location for Matera town center and Sassi de Matera. The owner and staff of the hotel where very friendly and courteous. Would stay at this hotel again.

Very nice hotel. It was a house converted to a hotel with nice furnishings and decorations. The rooms offer breathtaking views of the Sassi. Mel Gibson, Monica Belucci and other casts of the movie Passion of the Christ stayed there during the shoot.

When you go to a 3 start hotel you expect: to get what you pay for: 1- you are asked to pay extra to get a view on Matera but, - you don't get any view - you have to pay for it - and the owner is telling you that you should not mater as you will not stay... More
