This hotel really does have amazing views. I have stayed here on 3 separate occasions as I love Alicante and this hotel is in a prime location. It is perfect if you want to explore Alicante and due to it been the tallest hotel in the city, if you ever get lost, just look up and you can always see... more

The Tryp Gran Sol is one of Alicante's few skyscrapers - and requesting a high floor certainly paid off. BUT beware: the lift/elevators were both out of action for a short while on one of our days there, and it was a long & tiring hike up & down the stairs (chambermaids allowed a family with kids to use the... more

This hotel is in one of the ugly Alicante buildings (of which there are many) but we had a room on the 15th floor - as suggested by other reviewers and I forgave it everything as the views were so great! We had a corner balcony, one side overlooked the marina and sea and the other the town up to... more

Stayed here 1-3 February 2008 and stumbled upon CARNAVAL !. The room consisted of a bedroom and sitting room and a balcony on 2 sides. It was on the 24th floor and the views were tremendous. No tea/coffee making facilities. One of the key light switches didn't work. The rooms were clean. Breakfast (buffet) was around 14 Euros but I've... more

Stayed in the Gran Sol 3 nights. Had read previous reviews about decor in hotel and air-conditioning (and Im not over fussy person either) and was bit apprehensive about what to arrive to, but must be perfectly honest they were right. Was on 14th floor, room very dated, could hear in distance other peoples units on and when people ran... more

Stayed here for a couple of nights in August. Asked for a room with a view and got one. The 17th floor had a great view across the harbour and beach area and included a little balcony which it was possible to venture on to (rare in high rise buildings, I thought). The single room was basic and not very... more

We were asked which room we would like when we arrived, as we had read some reviews saying higher rooms were best, we got a room on 22nd floor. Views were wonderful and looked great day and night when the castle is all lit up on the hill. Room was nice clean and airy, small seating area was nice and... more

Just stayed for 3 nights at the above hotel, and was pleasantly surprised, after paying just 70 euros a night. Found it hard to fault the hotel ,the only thing i could comment on was the noisy air con which rattled too much to have on during night, which was unbearable because the temperature never dropped to less than 29 degrees during night.... more

My gf and I spend only two days in Alicante at this hotel. We've read the reviews from tripadvisor and we were ok with that. We had a room at the 3rd floor , althrough we've asked upon our arrival a room on a higher floor. We were told the hotel is fully booked, but trust me, we barely saw... more

Following previous advise on this website, asked for a high room. I got an east-facing corner room on the 15th floor- best view ever of the marina/ sea, old town & castle. Locality couldn't be better- old town, beaches and restaurants a block or two away, superette and tourist office around the corner. Room was a studio with separate lounge... more
