Due to a change in flight schedules, we arrived in Madrid at 1 in the morning and in the pouring rain; the introduction to this year's short trip to Spain courtesy of Hostal Pizarro made up for a lot. The owner/caretaker stayed up late in order to let us in and, like his companero next morning, was super-friendly and charming... More

A nice quiet hostal, located on the first floor of a large appartment building (no elevator). The room was small, with a tiny bathroom, but clean and very comfortable, with great beds. No breakfats was served in the hostal, but as you ar in the middle of Madrid, there are plenty of places to go for a bite to eat.... More

Great budget hotel, nice clean apartment, modern furnishings, the shower in the bathroom was fantastic - nice and hot and very powerful! Was in 2 minds if to book it at first as the website said it was gay friendly and we were 2 straight males but found the hotel was fine. The location of the apartment is fantastic, it's... More

The hostal wasn't hard to find and not far from the metro. The rooms were very clean and the man at the front desk was extremely nice and helpful. I guess our only complaint is that the showers were extremely small ( like you can't turn around in them small) and the decode was more of a college dorm room.... More

Arrived for our first stay in Madrid and found this hotel to be well located, on a quieter side street, but 5 minutes walk to Gran Via. Room, number 17, was clean, comfortable, and well lit, with a nice bathroom and a small refrigerator - unexpected but an added bonus. Staff was always pleasant, despite my dialing the front desk... The manager of the hotel was the rudest person I encountered in all of Spain. Totally nasty and lacked any sense of how to service a client. We were on a red-eye flight and hadn't slept in 24 hours. We asked to possibly check-in early. He behaved with no compassion as though it was unheard of and stated that the... More

central location, comfortable enough/defenitely clean room, friendly/helpfull staff. no breakfast possibilities, but as it is just off the gran via, there's plenty around. good value for money. would go back. (and although it says 'gay hostel pizarro' on the booking sites, it is very much ok to stay as a non-gay-couple).

This hostel is very friendly and welcoming. A group of us spent a long weekend in Madrid shopping, sightseeing and partying and really enjoyed our stay here. Hostal Pizarro is located in the Malasana area, right next to the Chueca district (“Madrid’s Soho”), both of which boast with a great choice of bars and restaurants. Malasana is quieter and therefore... More

I stayed here for a night in late August, and plan to visit again whenever I'm passing through Madrid. It is very conveniently located to several Metro stops, cafes, and services, while also on a peaceful and safe street. Chema was super-friendly, enthusiastic, and helpful. The room was very comfortable, clean, and cool.

Overall, my partner and I were very pleased with this hotel. Although their English was not great, both staff members whom we dealt with were extremely helpful in answering our questions about Madrid. The room was perfect for our needs, and the air conditioning was robust; it was strong enough for the intense August heat of Madrid. The hotel is... More
