First impressions of the outside were not great, however I was pleasantly surprised once we dragged our bags up the 5 flights of stairs (there's also a shifty elevator for the risk takers). Entering the reception door, I knew I picked the best hotel on this block. It looked very contemporary and clean. There were 2 host, one of which... More

Stayed here for a little over a week this past fall as part of a month long trip through some European countries. We were not expecting a luxurious place, just something comfortable and clean. Flat5 was both. We opted for a room with an ensuite bathroom. The room was a decent size, not too large but not as small as... More

We stayed here for a night. Overall, the room was comfortable. However, the room walls and the shared bathroom floor were a bit degraded. The breakfast in the room was nice and plentiful. The members of the staff were very nice and gave us good tips about the city.

Stayed in the one bedroom apartment which is in a separate building 5 min. walk from the hostel front desk. The apartment is only 2-3 min. walk from the Tribunal metro station and a major pedestrian commercial street, with lots of restaurants, coffee shops, bars and supermarkets just downstairs. The apartment is clean and exactly as photos posted on booking... More

We stayed here for five nights in the beginning, and one in the end of our Spain trip. It was as close to perfect as it can get for the price. The room was spacious and clean. We chose the shared bathrooms, which were always kept clean. The location is central, within walking distance to Plaza Espana and Puerta del... More

Noisy due to thin walls but the hostel itself is clean and in a nice area. Just take ear plugs if you are a light sleeper - e.g the sound of light switches, plugs, front desk - I'm not a great sleeper so it depends on personal preference...

Flat5Madrid offers clean and pretty spacious rooms, friendly staff, great price and very central location (you can easily access it by metro, too). Would definetely stay here again. There are also some nice restaurants nearby.

we loved our stay at Flat5Madrid. The location is excellent, right next to the centre and a metro station. The receptionist was great and spoke very good English. The 1.99 breakfast is worth it, and is served in bed at the time of your choice every day. The room was kept clean, as were the bathrooms. Even though we opted... More

Staying in Malasana

Neighborhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighborhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
