We had an overnight stay in Madrid due to a very long connection between flights. As I looked through various hostels to find somewhere more comfortable to crash than the airport I came across Flat5. At first it looked too good to be true: a double bed in a private room for only a couple of Euros more than two... More

We stayed there just one night and actually booked a double room with shared bathroom but my boyfriend reserved in january instead if december. Anyway when we arrived there the woman was really friendly but there was no room like this left, just a double room with private bathroom. We had to oay an extra fee but the rest was... More

At 3 minute walk from the metro Noviciado, in an old 5 story building: wooden floors and old charm. Flat 5 is value foe money. Good beds, clean and looked after. Walking distance to Malasana and its bars. Friendly front office staff.

Very nice, individual small hotel / hostel. Located in walking distance to the most important sights and in a very nice neighbourhood. We had a double room with shared bathrooms which was perfectly fine, since the bathrooms were very clean and we never had a problem getting one. Located on the 5th floor of a beautiful old building, but with... More

The staff were so friendly and helpful the room was very clean, we had a twin room with private bathroom it was a little small but on a city break what do you need. the one complaint the mattresses could do with being updated.the reason I didn't give a five rating..the breakfast was so cheap €1 for two toast with... Clean, Good location, Nice service, Quiet and excellent value for money. We had the cheaper shared bathroom room but it was more than adequate when we were out of the hotel except for sleeping. Wifi and all facilities worked well. 8 euro laundry service was fantastic!

This is a lovely friendly little hotel. Located a few floors up in an old building, but it has a lift. The room was lovely, small but nicely decorated and clean. I was delighted they were able to provide a kettle in the room to make cups of tea. The 'breakfast in bed' has plenty of options and is reasonably... More

We were so grateful for our stay at Flat5Madrid where we could regroup easily from hours out in the city. We slept very well as it was quiet at night and very comfortable. There was plenty of room for two of us to move about in our double room. The restrooms were down the hall and always available when we... More

I would give this hostel a 3.5 if that were an option-- it was somewhere between Average and Very Good. The front desk was helpful and willing to call places and make arrangements for us, but both of the clerks had mediocre English, which made some things slightly more difficult. The walls are thin, so noises from the hallway are... More

We stayed for two nights in the wonderful Flat5 Madrid, we loved the place. Firstly it is situated in the heart of the huge city of Madrid, within easy walking distance to downtown, or if you prefer to take the metro then there is a stop 100 metres from the front door! Situated on the fifth floor of a great... More

Staying in Malasana

Neighborhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighborhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
