We stayed here for 4 nights, the staff are very friendly and helpful especially Izaak, the hotel is less than 2 minutes walk from Gran via and the metro station which we didn't need to use as most of the attractions are walkable. The room is spacious, very clean and comfortable.

Hostal America is in a perfect little corner very near Sol,its rooms are cosy, basic and quiet at night, which is perfect for a good night sleep; The receptionists were very helpful especially the chubby night one, this made things easier for someone less conversant with madrid at night...Highly recommended place.

We spent 4 nights at Hostal America in the end of October. It is located on the 5th floor - the top floor of the building. Traveling with us was my 85 year mother and therefore we were very happy that the elevator was working all the time, There is a nice, sunny reception area with two sofas, coffee- and... More

Absolutely loved Madrid so we popped in for an additional night on our way from Sevilla to Barcelona. This was the only Hostel we stayed in on our 3wk trip in Spain. It was a pleasant surprise. We had our own bathroom with bath and shower. It is so central and the city vibe and buzz is what we were... More

We visited this hotel in July 2014. We were with 2 children and our friends were with 3 children, one of them 1 year old only. We really liked this place. Very friendly guys at reception, they were always ready to help with any problem. The location of the hotel is perfect. Rooms were rather simply furinshed, but everything was... More

Very well situated in city centre with friendly staff. Rooms clean and reasonably priced for the size. Metro to airport. Also I would recommend restaurant Vivares close by. Good ambience with friendly staff and good food.

truly a case of mistaken identity!!!!!! seemed just fine on the net but suited only for 18 somethings and people who are deaf. The rooms are the size of a broom closet , the bath even smaller.... claustrophobic! the noise from the street is deafening and the sleeping toatally a wipeout. Although the area is soo central and convenient ...... More

I went to a Madrid only for two days 2011, a friend suggested this hotel and it was a reasonable price. The staff was very friendly, the location was amazing so close to all public transportation you might need, very clean with a very cozy terrace that you will be able to enjoy the sun with a cup of coffee.... Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
