Everything was really nice. We stayed there for two nights. It's really good placed hotel, two mins from Gran Via in a beautiful district Chueca. Stuff is friendly, speak English very well. Rooms are small, but clear and light. Free Wi-Fi with a high speed. We had no any problems. And the price is really great. Thank you very much,... More

It is just 100 mt. to Gran Via, the metro and the city centre. It is not well decorated, furniture is old, the room and the shower is small but clean. the beds are not very comfortable but OK. You need to ring the bell to get in after 22.00. No breakfast but there are cafes around. On the very... More

Really well placed, just a couple of minutes away from Gran Via. Easy access to Red Bus City Tour and Metro. A bit basic, but clean and comfortable. The bathroom was extremely small, but the shower worked adequately. The bad thing was that the air con did not work, fortunately for us, the nights were not too hot, and we... More

The best thing about this hostel is it's location. It's located a minute's walk from the Gran via and about ten minutes from Puerta del Sol. The hostel is basic. The wi-fi was broken for most of the time we were there. The bathroom smelled weird 1 day, but it got okay soon. The beds were comfortable and clean and... More

Arrived here after a 5 hour coach ride from Cazorla. Although the staff speak little English, so long as you try your Spanish it all works out in the end. The room was adequate. Small but perfectly formed. The shower was most welcome in the heat. I used it twice a day just to freshen up! The added bonus of... More

The hostal is very well located, just off the Gran Via with shops and bars close by and not too far from the metro stations. We had booked a room with a double bed (this was an option through booking.com) and confirmed that choice in the comments section. On arrival we were shown to a Twin bedded room and were... More

This hostel is nearby the Gran Via metro station, and off of Hortaleza street. We prepaid for the room on the hostel's website to secure a cheaper price, which was 45,90 euros. The hostel is on the second floor, and we had to buzz into the hostel from Hortaleza street. In addition, we had to buzz into the hostel's main... More

I was worried about this hostal due to little reviews and my utter lack of Spanish! However it was great! Perfect location very clean and staff had English! I was delighted for the amount paid. Loads of great bars near and 5 min to Gran Via tube.

This hostel is in very accessible location, 2 minutes walk to the gran via metro station (5 stops from the Atocha train station, connection to airport). It has small clean rooms (we had a room with twin beds), although the bathrooms were small and tiles needed re-grouting/cleaning. The owners/staff are very welcoming. there is free wifi and bags can be... More

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
