Excellent front desk staff, very helpful. The roof garden is nice but $9 (USD) is a bit much for a small Coke even in Europe. Overall it is a good hotel with a good location just off of Grand Via. This is my second Room Mate hotel in Madrid -- I stayed at the Alicia almost exactly a year ago. I love them both! The Oscar is in a great location, in the middle of the Chueca, and the staff are friendly and helpful. (The design of the place may be a little over-the-top, but that's part of the fun.)... more

Just back from a lovely three day trip to Madrid staying at Hotel Mate Oscar. Fantastic location just off Gran Via within easy walking distance of Prado/galleries, Plaza Mayor and sidestreets. My wife and I loved Hotel Oscar. It is in an excellent location, on Plaza Vasquez de Mella in the diverse, up-and-coming barrio of Chueca.
