Our interaction with Juan after our experience in Neuva Andelucia helped to rescue our vacation. We were robbed outside the apartment we rented in Nueva Andelucia immediately after we arrived and all our carry-on luggage was stolen. We were left with nothing because Air Europa lost our luggage for over 24 hours and their service was terrible. Our friends joined... More

Very convenient location. We reached any place we wanted to visit by walking. The owner, Juan, was very kind and although he did not speak English, managed to communicate and help. The only problem we had was that the sofa was soft for us and it was a little bit noisy on Friday night.

This was our first time to rent a vacation rental as opposed to staying in a hotel and after this experience we will always be staying in apartments. This apartment is central, quiet, safe and affordable.Juan ( owner ) was very helpfull and if we ever revisit Madrid we will stay there again.

Juan is just a PERFECT host, he should be awarded an Oscar. His support was unbelievable and generous. He was able to organize tickets for a football game for us as I was not able to book the same online. The apartment itself is large, very clean, perfect located in the centre of Madrid. The small kitchen is perfect to... More

Excellent location in the centre of Madrid, friendly and helpful staff (thanks Juan) and a fully-equipped, well-maintained modern apartment. Not much more to add that hasn't been said in previous reviews. I agree with the positive reviews and will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Madrid.

Made our stay in Madrid very comfortable. Air-conditioning was necessary and it worked very well. The apartment was clean and well located. We have small children and there is a park near the royal palace, supermarkets and cafes all close by.

The apartment was well located for what we wanted ie near Hertz office at Plaza de Espana, Flamenco and easy walk to Gran Via and Madrid attractions ( we like walking!). The street itself was very ordinary although there is a police station almost opposite, Kitchen and bathroom very small. We overlooked a courtyard so it was quiet. As others... More

My husband, 11 month old baby and I stayed here twice in February, for three nights at the start of our vacation and 2 nights at the end. I was so happy I booked us here. I know it's been said before, but Juan really is a super host and makes you feel like family. Both apartments we stayed in... More

The location is unbeatable. With only one transfer on the metro from the airport, you're at the door-step from Barajas in 25 minutes. We accomplished this with an infant and luggage in tow. We arrived early, as one would on a TA flight, but Juan kept our bags in his locked office and called us when it was ready (by... More

Cannot recommend enough, we had a 1 bedroom apartment right in the heart of Madrid, just 2mins walk from Plaza de Espana metro station. Everything is within walking distance from the apartments. They are secure and our one bedroom had the bedroom and living room at opposite ends of the apartment, which meant the 3rd person could effectively have their... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
