This is a hotel with history and design. I love its proximity to the theaters and we were able to watch El Rey Leon the day after our stay. There were so many tapas bar and restaurants near the hotel and 10 minutes away is the meeting point of all our tours to Toledo, Escorial, Avila and Montserrat. The food... More

Having spent 2 weeks touring Spain and having forgone my favourite little hotel in Madrid or this one at my daughter in law's request I was very disappointed. It felt cramped and while the art deco fittings and decor were elegant in their way the amenities were not great. The staff at reception were helpful enough if slightly supercilious but... More

The good: close to subway stations and within walking distance to shopping and major attractions. The bad: mice/rats walking around inside the walls, noisy doors, rooms showing their age, shower not watertight - there's just a small side screen which does not keep the water flowing all over the bathroom floor, slow wifi, minimal service. OK but I won't stay... More

Recently stayed at the Vinnci Via 66 - right in the heart of Madrid, and mere steps away from the Gran Via (major shopping/eating street). The hotel was very nice, the room wasn't overly large, but certainly accommodated us well. Everything was clean, safe, and the hotel staff were all quite friendly. Again, like most hotels in the major centres... More

I first stayed in Vinci Via 66 Madrid in 2008 and I had felt at the time that my stay was really pleasant. Due to the Pride festival many of the hotels were booked for that weekend and as I was travelling with my husband and niece, I decided to book this hotel again. In terms of location, it is... More

The hotel is located within walking distance from many major tourist attractions. It's very stylish but not a good option if you are allergic or sensitive to smells. All public areas including the breakfast lounge is heavily perfumed. The roof terrace is very cosy but a bit overpriced

Good value for money. Right in the heart of everything to see in Madrid and no more than a reasonable walk away from the Prado. Nice roof-top bar with view over the royal palace. Public parking is expensive, but right next to hotel.

A very stylish hotel, in Madrid's city centre, located between Gran Via and Santo Domingo Metro stations. It's also built above a theatre, and the decor theme is black & white photos of 1920s show girls. Room was small, but not cramped. Immaculately clean, great bath / shower. Nice staff. Very happy with it. One thing irked me: no escape... More

Stayed one night before our flight home. Great location, room clean, staff friendly. Rooftop bar is nice at night, great bartender. Purchased breakfast for the extra $15.each, it had a good assortment of items but not worth it for me. I would rather purchase a breakfast sandwich 2 doors down at Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts. Our bathroom large but 2... More

Staying in Malasana

Neighborhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighborhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
