We arrived quite late on a Friday evening and was greeted by a most unhelpful receptionist, barely informed us of anything even directions to room. Our room was adequate, booked a balcony room which on opening the door to take in the views was met with a most unpleasant smell of drains/sewage it stayed with us on and off all... More

This hotel would have gotten five stars if the air conditioning could have gotten the temperature down below 85 fahrenheit while we were trying to sleep! Otherwise the place was nice and the people were friendly.

Prior of chosing this hotel I went through the reviews and all stated that location is quite good (have to agree) but, if personal service needed this is not given. Unfortunately, this is true. Reseption staff is really tired of giving service to anyone. Even a "good morning" / "good evening" was too much to expect. Also, please check your... More

Stayed here in May for a three day break with my husband. The hotel is right in the centre of things and on arrival I asked if they had any rooms with a terrace. Luckily they did and for a few extra euros we were given a top floor room with a huge balcony. I loved the room, very modern... More

It is a recently renovated hotel, very well located within walking distance of many attractions and shops. The decor may appear tacky to some, but it is all consistently designed and clean. Despite the busy avenue, the room was quiet, well insulated from the noise and with efficient AC. The staff was welcoming and friendly. Very nice roof top bar,... More

We have just got back from a 4 day trip to Madrid, staying at the Vincci 66 hotel. The hotel was very decorative, loved the old features like the stain glass windows behind the lifts and the staircase. Staff were very helpful, and answered any questions we had. Rooms were clean and cleaned everyday. We had a room on the... More

This is a hotel with history and design. I love its proximity to the theaters and we were able to watch El Rey Leon the day after our stay. There were so many tapas bar and restaurants near the hotel and 10 minutes away is the meeting point of all our tours to Toledo, Escorial, Avila and Montserrat. The food... More

Having spent 2 weeks touring Spain and having forgone my favourite little hotel in Madrid or this one at my daughter in law's request I was very disappointed. It felt cramped and while the art deco fittings and decor were elegant in their way the amenities were not great. The staff at reception were helpful enough if slightly supercilious but... More

The good: close to subway stations and within walking distance to shopping and major attractions. The bad: mice/rats walking around inside the walls, noisy doors, rooms showing their age, shower not watertight - there's just a small side screen which does not keep the water flowing all over the bathroom floor, slow wifi, minimal service. OK but I won't stay... More

Recently stayed at the Vinnci Via 66 - right in the heart of Madrid, and mere steps away from the Gran Via (major shopping/eating street). The hotel was very nice, the room wasn't overly large, but certainly accommodated us well. Everything was clean, safe, and the hotel staff were all quite friendly. Again, like most hotels in the major centres... More

Staying in Malasana

Neighborhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighborhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
