My boyfriend and I stayed there during a romantic getaway to Madrid. Judging by the reviews and photos, i imagined something better. When making a reservation, i did mention that we wanted a quiet room but also a double bed but we ended up getting a twin bed instead (not a big deal, especially since the room was indeed quiet).... a perfect hotel, with welcoming staff, great location, and clean and comfortable rooms. Set in an old buliding, with a fabulous 10 story winding staircase, and beautiful stain glass windows, which can be viewed through the glass walled lift. With funky but comfy furnishings, the rooms are welcoming and cosy, and the large bathroom is terrific, and all have baths... More

Thank you for a really nice weekend in one from now favourites hotels in Madrid. we were travelling from Canaries to spend a short weekend in Madrid and it was very worth the money. The hotel is very central, in the heart of Madrid Gran via Street with lots of shops, restaurants and bars. The centre you can reach in... More

Stayed here for 4 days in February - a 10 minute walk to the main shopping centre. Our first visit to Madrid but likely wont be our last. A bustling area, very cosmopolitan with lots to see and do. The hotel is modern in style, yet in a characterful property. Rooms / bathrooms quite large with bath and shower. Breakfast... More

We stayed recently for a long weekend. We had a normal double room which was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was a very good size with full size bath and incorporated shower and twin sinks with ample space. Limited TV to BBC World news but we had this in playing in the background occasionally so no hardship really. The... More

We booked this hotels for 2 nights in Madrid and we wanted to use it as the base to explore a nearby city. Upon making the reservation on Hotels.com, I rang the hotel and asked if it was possible for us to leave our suitcases at the hotel and collected them a couple of days after checking out. The hotel... More

We thought that this hotel looked fair value for money - and that the 20 euros extra per person compared with similar hotels was worth it since it advertises a spa. Imagine how disappointed we were to find that the spa is an extra charge of 20 euros PER HOUR PER PERSON. This is not made eobvious at all when... More

Staying in Malasana

Neighborhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighborhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
