Stayed three nights here in a double room in early September. Best location as close to all shops and heart of city centre. Easy walking distance to sights and metro if needed. Rooms are on the small size but are modern and have everything u need and at that price u cannot complain. Staff is very friendly and gave good... More

The Hostal Santo Domingo is really easy to find, about 2 minutes walk from Callao Metro station, just off the Gran Via, and in a cute little plaza with a police station, a cocktail bar/terrace and numerous kids skateboarding. All the main attractions are within 15-20 minutes walk. The décor is of a modern boutique style. Rooms aren't super spacious... More

With my friend we stood there a weekend, but everythig was very good. Its easily reachable from Cibelles where usually the express bus leaves you. Very close to the metro station , just few steps from Gran Via, and on the back side of the hotel there is Malasanga. No better location. VERY RECCOMENDED :)

I stayed there for my weekend in Madrid. It's hard to find anything better at this price! Location is great, close to shops, cafes and metro. The room was small, but clean and nice. I haven't seen double rooms, but my single was just the best fit for a solo traveller. There were no problems with fecilities. Staff was very... More

A very good option if you are on a budget. The rooms were simple but clean and practical, the location is excellent in the city centre with very good access to the tube and the staff very friendly and helpful. As we visited Madrid during the Champions League, we even found a polite note with advice about where to ge... More

At the risk of making it more difficult to get a room here, I will sing the praises of this hostal. I have over 30 years of experience traveling in Spain and my philosophy has always been "why spend a lot on a room when the point is to be out on the street and enjoying life, anyway?" Especially in... More

Great hostal, with a perfect location near shopping, restaurants and metro. Overall, we experienced a great service provided by receptionists, and the rooms where very clean and comportable! We stayed in a standard room, which was suitable for our weekend trip. Recommendable!

Excellent location just off Gran Via and in full view of a huge police station for security at night! This modest hotel in the redlight district looks unprepossessing from the outside, but offers comfortable, modernised rooms and exudes hospitality. Warmly recommended. Very friendly staff.

The location was close to Gran Via and central to getting to the popular sites in Madrid. It was quiet, clean, and the staff was friendly. The room was small but we weren't planning to spend much time there. It was exactly what we needed: comfortable bed, shower, and toilet. We stayed 2 nights and it was a good price.

I chose this hostal for my husband and I because of the location. I lived in Madrid for a semester in college and my home family was a street over from this place. You are right in the middle of everything and have great access to the metro. The little plaza the building sits on is family friendly with tons... More

Staying in Malasana

Neighborhood Profile
Malasana
Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighborhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
