I stayed at the AC Recoletos for a very quick trip through Madrid with my dad and 5-year-old son and had a perfect trip. The hotel is close to one of the few stops for the airport bus (just 2 euros!) which was one of the main reasons I chose it. Just as importantly, it's an easy walk to some... More

First impressions are positive. This hotel has a good central location near Retiro Park and a few high end boutiques in the exclusive Salamanca district of Madrid and has a funky, modern Spanish interior. Rooms are relatively spacious and well designed. The breakfast is great and in the evenings there are several great restaurants within a short walking distance of... More

This small boutique-style hotel with contemporary decor was a great base for exploring Madrid. The convenient location made for an easy walk to many attractions or to the Metro. The helpful front-desk staff helped to mitigate the lack of a concierge by eagerly offering restaurant recommendations or helping with booking train tickets and taxis. Our room was stylishly appointed with... More

Rooms are excelent because they are spacious, table to work with the computer -but no free Wifi in the room, what you can get paying a card of 6 euros/hour (only in the Lounge you get free Wifi), free soft drinks in the frig., a funny bathroom, and non noise from the street, what means you can sleep comfortably. Is... More

Wonderful location. Although it is a Marriott, this is a boutique property. Rooms are chic like a "W" hotel. A staff that looks after you. The downside are the floors are wood. So you hear the neighbors above you. Breakfast is expensive. Room inlcudes items in the minbar. Eat breakfast across the street.

Great hotel, great location. My only problem was FINDING it! Their website simply shows the address as Recoletos, 18. However, there is a Paseo de Recoletos and a Calle de Recoletos. If you use google maps, make sure and put in CALLE de Recoletos, or you will be going in circles. To make it more confusing, Calle and Paseo run... More

We only spent one night here on New Years eve and had a good time. Good location near Retiro Park and just a few blocks from the Prado Museum. Lots of upscale shopping nearby also. The town center, Puerta del Sol, is not a bad walk, maybe 1.5km. Breakfast was expensive for just a cold buffet, 18Euros. Room was very... More

The location for our short visit to Madrid was ideal. We were in easy walking distance to the Museums, great restaurants, shopping and parks. This was our first experience with the AC Hotel Chain that is now Marriott and we enjoyed the service and friendliness of the staff. This level of the Marriott brand is ideal for business travelers, short stay... More

AC Recoletos is an excellent property, with very streamlined, modern and comfortable rooms and amenities. Wi-fi in the lobby is convenient, breakfast in the on-site restaurant is good, and as per usual with Marriott properties, the beds are extra comfy. It boasts a fantastic central situation in the upscale Recoletos neighborhood, adjacent to Puerta de Alcalá and directly across from... More

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighborhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
