The AC Recoletos by Marriott is perfectly located for a Madrid visit. We spent three nights and could not have been happier. The room was perfect. We walked everywhere and completed our bucket list of activities due to its splendid location and it right next to, perhaps, one of the finest public parks we've ever been in. Btw, we are... More

We stayed at the AC Recoletos for 2 nights in June and had a lovely stay here. Check in was easy and Monica was so helpful, asked us if it was our first time in Madrid and highlighted some areas of interest for us on a map and gave us directions to help find our bearings. The hotel room itself... More

The hotel is next to the Archaeological Museum and in a hip neighborhood. Cafes and restaurants surround the area. We loved the Archaeology Museum and walked to the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum from the hotel too. On the same street was a seafood tapas restaurant that served delicious oysters on the half shell.

This Hotel is awesome! Friendly and professional staff, gorgeous decorations and delicious breakfast! We had a beautiful triple room with 3 comfortable beds, beautiful bathroom, sitting area, very high standard of cleanliness! Location wise you can't ask for more! It is right in the middle of all action...yet it's also in a very quiet upscale residential charming little street! All... More

This place is about a10 minute walk from the Plaza Mayor but if you like a nice (Marriott) room with pretty good space and amenities it's a good place. It's very near the upscale shopping area. Best thing: friendly helpful staff and quiet in the room. Downside: No coffee maker in the room nor free coffee in the lobby.

The hotel is conveniently located near Retiro Park and within walking distance to Prado. We ate at several small restaurants and cafes near the hotel, and we used the Metro to travel elsewhere in Madrid. The nearest station is about a 5- min. walk. The room was very comfortable and the front desk staff were very helpful and courteous. We... More

The hotel staff could not have been more helpful and the food and service at the Suite Bar was excellent. The breakfast buffet was a bit skimpy for the price paid. There were six of us traveling together and we had an issue the second night we were there (5/8/15) when we were all sitting in the Suite Bar. The... More

Overall, we enjoyed the Recoletos. The location is great for visiting the three major art museums. It is convenient to Atocha Station and there is a Metro station very close by. We had no issues with staff--they were friendly and helpful. In fact, I was impressed that the young woman at the front desk was so calm and friendly to... More

I don't like Marriott. They are all samey and I think are more suited for the more elderly population. So when my colleague recommended booking this hotel as he is a Marriott points collector I was a little skeptical. However, I was pleasantly surprised. First off this hotel is close to the Metro and is also not far from the... More

The Good: -not your typical Marriott feel at all which was quite nice -Very well located -Good welcoming service -Personally liked the decor, small room but had what was needed. The bad: -Poor soundproofing, can hear your neighbor talking on the phone etc.. -(very minor) but they give a golf ball shaped handsoap, with no tray to put it on... More

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighborhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
