The hotel staff could not have been more helpful and the food and service at the Suite Bar was excellent. The breakfast buffet was a bit skimpy for the price paid. There were six of us traveling together and we had an issue the second night we were there (5/8/15) when we were all sitting in the Suite Bar. The... More

Overall, we enjoyed the Recoletos. The location is great for visiting the three major art museums. It is convenient to Atocha Station and there is a Metro station very close by. We had no issues with staff--they were friendly and helpful. In fact, I was impressed that the young woman at the front desk was so calm and friendly to... More

I don't like Marriott. They are all samey and I think are more suited for the more elderly population. So when my colleague recommended booking this hotel as he is a Marriott points collector I was a little skeptical. However, I was pleasantly surprised. First off this hotel is close to the Metro and is also not far from the... More

The Good: -not your typical Marriott feel at all which was quite nice -Very well located -Good welcoming service -Personally liked the decor, small room but had what was needed. The bad: -Poor soundproofing, can hear your neighbor talking on the phone etc.. -(very minor) but they give a golf ball shaped handsoap, with no tray to put it on... More

We visited friends in Madrid this past weekend but as they are expecting...we decided it would be best to find a hotel. The hotel was in a great location just a couple minutes walk from the Retiro. The rooms were clean and by European standards, I thought the beds were quite comfortable. The one negative, was that the windows were... More

Well located hotel, affordable and within walking distance of good restaurants, museums, and nightlife. We stayed several nights and are grateful that it was recommended by friends. The bar had no activity, but the included breakfast was ample and satisfying.

I have had to travel to Madrid several times for different reasons, business and vacation, and finally I have found the perfect hotel to base myself in. AC Recoletos is the perfect combination in a simple, yet very nice and comfortable hotel to base yourself. For starters, the location is perfect. You are in a very nice neighborhood (Salamanca), close... More

Super happy with this hotel, especially given some of the critical comments I'd read online. It's in a fantastic location in a lovely neighborhood near upscale Salamanca. Great places to eat nearby if you don't feel like trekking into the tourist-central areas near Plaza Mayor etc. Super easy walking to the Prado and Thyssen museums as well as the beautiful gardens... First trip to Madrid. Couldn't have picked a better location. 30-40 min walk to sights or 5 min walk to upscale shopping if desired. Safe neighborhood. Friendly staff. Had an upgrade suite (2nd floor) which was fantastic with two balconies. Double sink bathroom, separate tub and shower. Would definitely stay their again. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only thing lacking... More

The hotel was in a great location to walk anywhere you wanted to in the city. It is also very safe to walk around at night. The staff was very helpful, especially Rebeca. She was a great help before and during our stay (with restaurant reservations, recommendations, etc.). The only reason this hotel did not get 5 stars was because... More

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighborhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
