Decent but certainly not luxury lodging for six nights at the end of our 3-week swing through Spain starting in Barcelona, through Andalusia. Room appeared to be modernized and had a decent amount of space to move around in, but certainly was not a large room at all. Bathroom was adequate for its purpose. Located within a very reasonable walk... More

My husband and I stayed at Hostal Luz for four nights in late April, 2012. Margarita was very friendly and helpful, showing us several rooms before we picked the one that suited us best. I do speak some Spanish which helped the communication. The room was very clean, the bed comfortable and the price was very reasonable. Breakfast at the... More

A simple Hostal at the 3rd floor of an older building. Nice, clean rooms with good beds (matrasses). Ask for a refurbished room. A - very - small elevator can get you to the third floor (or you decide to just put the suitcases in and run the stairs to see who is first. The reception is open until around... More

Can there be a better location? Hostel Luz is no frills but has everything you need and is immaculately clean. Marguerite, who did not speak English, was nevertheless amazingly helpful. She recommended superb restaurants and flamingo dancing. And sped us on our way to art museums, parks, etc.--all within walking distance--with excellent directions. And set up our cab back to... ..this was a great place to stay - quiet and very clean, reasonably-priced, and centrally-placed for many interesting sights. Best to take the metro when you first arrive, or else a clear map to show your taxi driver (sat-nav being of little help). It occupies an entire floor within the building, which has the number 10 above the street door,... More

This was my favorite place that I stayed during my most recent trip to Europe. Pros: *The place is extremely clean and I liked the simple decorations. * Margarita, the owner, was very helpful and let us check in extra early at 8:30am after we got into Madrid in the wee hours of the morning after a night train from... This was the worst hotel stay of our week in Spain. The cab dropped us off but we could not see the sign in the darkened street, nor was there any obvious name on the door/buzzer. We managed to get inside and go up the tiniest elevator to her 4th floor hostal, inside a larger apartment building. It's unclear if... More

A week in Madrid in September was excellent and one of the main reasons was because we stayed at Hostal Luz. The owner was very friendly and helpful and the location was ideal. It wasn't fancy but we didn't need fancy. More

Marguerite was so accommodating even with my very little Spanish. She was quite helpful and friendly to me and my friend. The room we stayed with my friend was in the new wing, which was facing the street. I loved the view of the street and the apartments across. Lovely verandas lined the buildings in this area. Clean bathroom and... More

Pretty good service. Everyday new towels, and ur room gets cleaned. Kind personell, they understand English, but speak Spanish. The hostel lies in the center of Madrid, everything you'll need is at close range. Within 3 minutes you find yourself at the metro station Opera. I haven't tried the breakfast that comes included. The rooms are not large, but big enough.... More
