Very nice place to stay. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast in the restaurant adjacent to the hotel was fantastic, ham cheese, tortilla Espanola, pan, yogurt, donuts, café con leche, coffee, orange juice and much more!

The only thing left to make it perfect is the lack of an elevator at the ground floor. If you're arriving with some luggage (my case), you'll have to pull them up for some stairs before reaching the elevator. But that's just a small problem that does not produce any impact at all. The room was vey cozy, with a... More

We stayed at En Busca del Tiempo for the first time 9 years ago - recommended by the Norwegian Embassy. When we returned to Madrid again the 4th of June this year, we didn't even concider finding another place to stay. In small but rather busy (in a good way) Calle Barcelona, you have to know the streetnumber to find... More

It all was ok. The location, the staff, the room, the price, the breakfast... we only spent a night on it but if we have to travel to Madrid again we are going to repeat with no doubt. Hope that this review has helped you.

My mum and myself stayed here for two nights. Our flight was delayed into Madrid so with a quick email we were able to organise our check in for the early hours of the next morning. The room was huge and the staff were lovely. Breakfast was a good range each morning and the coffee was great. The apartments are... More

Stayed in Room 12 which was on the 3rd floor of the building next door - Number 6. It was huge and comfortably had room for 3 of us. The breakfast was lovely, the receptionist was friendly, the wifi worked, the hotel couldn't be any more central. Totally recommend it!!

I had to cancel my booking 2.5 days in advance and the Apartamentos En Busca del Tiempo didn't accept this and still charged me, although their cancellation policy said just 2 days (48hours before check-in time). They refused any dialogue and refund, claiming they are right and I broke the terms. I e-mailed the hotel again a month later, hoping... More

Stayed here as a solo traveller for four nights. It was a few minutes walk from the Solo Metro staion right in the heart of the city. Ten minute walk to the Palace and the main department stores and fifteen minute walk to the Prado. Restaurants, cafés and bars all around. The room I occupied was an inside one and... More

We were really pleased with the location of this apartment. It's a basic room with basic kitchen equipment. As other reviews have mentioned before it is a dark room(dark paint) but nothing a few lights couldn't improve. The breakfast is ok. The housekeeping staff were the most helpful and lovely girls i have every come across. You are surrounded by... More

Stayed there for a weekend in mid November. Girl at the desk was helpful and willing to arrange, upon request, a second day switch to a brighter room, facing a narrow pedestrian street. Location seems safe and quiet, regarding its central lcation. Excellent for sightseeing, as most of the places of interest can be reached on foot. Metro station Puerta... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
