I picked the hostal for it's location and price. At around 50 euros a night for an en-suite room in the heart of Madrid it is excellent value. It is only around a 5 minute walk from "Sol" the centre of Madrid. Previous reviews say the street is noisy however I did not find this to be the case as... More

First of all, TripAdvisor needs to change the address they have listed for the Hostal Cervantes in Madrid. It is Calle Cervantes, #34. The address TripAdvisor shows is for another establishment by the same name but with different owners in a suburb of Madrid on the way to the Barajas Airport. (Calle Constitución, 58, Daganzo de Arriba). I have called... More

I can't say enough about the friendliness of the staff, but it doesn't compensate for the fact that the room was grimy and the street noise was unbearably loud. I really wanted to like the place, but we left the next day for the hostal upstairs, where for the same price, the service was equally friendly, but the rooms were... More

Stayed there for 3 nights, about 2 weeks ago. House next door is almost done, just needs a clean up of the street and the calle should be back to normal. I felt no impact of the construction work next door inside the hostal. Nice, friendly atmosphere, very clean. The little electric table fan in the room is a nice... More

'The building next door is currently gutted and under complete rennovation, and the Hostal Cervantes building is also under major rennovation. The noise and mess was intolerable - we could not stay there. FORTUNATELY, the owner's brother runs another hostal, 'Armesto', just around the corner, and our room there was PERFECT - quiet and clean, looking out over a soothing... More

We stayed here for a week in May when the weather wasn't very good. The room was well decorated, warm and spotlessly clean, with a fully equipped bathroom. The location was ideal, the concierge spoke excellent English, and Christian and his colleague were both pleasant and helpful. Although some repair and renewal was due, everything worked OK. We felt this... More

This hotel is a short walk from the three major museums in Madrid, and also quite close to the Atocha train station. It is simple, clean and well run and I would recommend it for independent travellers. The hotel website says it includes breakfast--if you ask the manager he give you a coupon for a continental breakfast in the cafe... More

I visit Madrid on an average of once a year, usually for one to three weeks at a time. For the past ten years I have stayed at Hostal Cervantes (Calle Cervantes, 34-second floor) because I find the owner friendly, the managers helpful, the place itself (although simple) immaculate, and the location and price unbeatable. I recommend a room on... More
