This place is managed by a wonderful couple. It is clean, nice, comfortable and accesible. Location is great. Walk everywhere, good and non-expensive places to eat in the area. Close to important places and train stations. I would definitely stay there again. more

I stayed in the Hostal Carrera with my family, booking a triple room directly with the hotel. This is a great hotel, located in the very city center of Madrid, ES. It's a 5 mins walk from Plaza del Sol, where there is the Subway station and you can find all the shops-pubs-restaurants you'll need. Not only it's a 12... more

One stays at the Hostal Carrera for three main reasons: 1) the rooms are relatively inexpensive (e.g., 70 Euros per night double occupancy vs. 400+ per night at the Four Seasons), 2) the hostal is in a great location, and 3) the staff are friendly and helpful. I say this because I was very concerned when we first arrived. The... more

We booked the Hostal Carreras (not to be confused with Hostal Carrera) based on numerous positive reviews on other websites and were profoundly disappointed. Firstly, this is not a hotel. It felt like a private family home that rents out spare rooms, creating a slightly uncomfortable atmosphere. Although Irma, the owner, was extremely welcoming, the rest of the family was... more

This hotel is in the middle of everything, a few steps from Sol and Sevilla metro, the best area for sightseeing. It's just a plain hotel with clean and big rooms (the triple was very spacious). Don't expect anything fancy. Good for it's price. more

Just come back from a fantastic weekend in Madird. Hostal Carrera was slap bang in the centre, very reasonable, fantstic shower, fully functional air conditioning and 24 hour receptionist. Couldn't have asked for any more, outstanding value for money. Enjoy! more

Great place to stay in the heart of Madrid. Walking distance to the museums and palace. Very quiet with a friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are comfortable and clean with modern bathrooms, TV and air conditioning. We did however have a problem with our reservation. We used booking.com, which worked flawlessly for our other 4 hotel reservations but for some... more

We stayed at Hostal Carrera for 3 nights. The hotel has a great location for sightseeing and nightlife, spotless marble bathrooms and no street noise. Management was helpful in travel info/restaurant recommendations. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Madrid on a budget. more

Hostal Carrera is very centrally located in downtown Madrid--close to the Sol Metro. The owners are very helpful and speak some English, as well as many of their staff. It was clean, economical and very homey. We would definitely stay there again. No complaints, except the water pressure was a little low. more
