It's taken a while to write my review, we stayed in October 14 but this hotel certainly deserves some positive feedback. The hotel is well situated centrally and within walking distance of most notable attractions. We were upgraded to a duplex room which was very spacious, clean and comfortable and was like a home from home. The reception staff were... More

Very convenient location in the heart of the old town, large, clean and stylish rooms, friendly staff, delicious breakfast at a convenient time. Great place for a romantic getaway. We highly recommend this hotel, as well as going to use a chain of hotels Room Mate in other cities and countries.

The location is in the heart of the city, within 5 minutes of multiple metro stops and less than a mile from everything you'd possibly want to see. The prices are great. The rooms are trendy and overall it feels like a W hotel but at a more budget price. The duplex rooms are perfect for traveling with a bigger... More

Stayed for a fantastic weekend in Madrid. Room was upgraded with 2 bathrooms and mezzanine level. Great welcome and location. Only problem was that when we went to shower on Sunday morning there was no hot water. When we phoned we were told that someone would come to fix it. Nobody arrived and after an hour waiting we called again... More

Great place to be in the center of Madrid. Great service(the Clark took 20 minutes to draw every advice he gave in the map!). Nice rooms with kitchen and enough space. No need to book breakfast as hundreds of cafés are around (3 minutes to walk to Callao).

One of the best hotel service I had in Europe, good location(close to Gran Via, shopping, castle etc) hotel and room are clean. We arrived around 11 am, we were greeted by friendly smiles, due to the time we were explained that our room was not ready yet, but if could wait 20-30 mins they would have the cleaning lady... This is my ambiguous feelings towards the "Mate" concept. Its like Phillip Stark gets drunk and high reads a book about Andy Warhol and alternates that and the Ikea-catalogue. The result is Mate hotels. When i visited it hade been operating for almost 1-2 years but the design concept was just as cheesy as it is now. Its an ok... More

Prefect location in the center of Madrid with great access to metro stations. The room was clean with all the modern facilities you will need. Breakfast was nice and served until late, that can be very helpful if you visit madrid for pleasure Excellent value for money hotel.

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
