However, i could not really sleep well and found the room very incontinence. the curtains are not making the room dark enough and the AC is really noisy although i have set it to min power (Madrid can be... We stayed two nights in Room Mate Laura, then went elsewhere in Spain, and then came back for five more nights in Room Mate Laura. The hotel is great and the staff (esp. Javier and Manuela) were very friendly and helpful. We upgraded to a deluxe room which had an upstairs loft with an extra platform bed, tv, and half-bath.... More

This hotel is located right off the main shopping streets in Madrid, walking disctance to everything! The breakfast is fantastic and the staff are extremely helpful. Our room was big, had a sofa and kitchen, the bathroom was newly renovated.

We were impressed with Room Mate Laura from the second we arrived. From the scent (which seems to be pumped out onto the street as you smell the aftershave scent before you even see the hotel) to the ever topped up ice cold water in the lobby to the modern decor and extremely friendly staff. Check in was painless and... More

We stayed here for 3 nights while visiting Madrid. It is a little hard to find and the city map the hotel provides does not have all the tiny streets labelled. But it is nice not being on a street with a lot of traffic or crowds. Depending on which end your room is, you may hear church bells at... More

Arrived at 21;30 via a Taxi from the airport (30 Euros), staying as a family of three for four nights. Check in was speedy and welcoming. The hotel is situated centrally near to a number of Tapas bars which all seem to close around midnight. Our room (209) had one King size bed and up a staircase was another double... More

6 of my family members and i visited Madrid in the month of March. We booked this hotel through booking which gave us a 10% discount from the real rate. Unfortunately, had issues with our flight coming into Madrid and ended up arriving two days of the day we were suppose to arrive. As soon as i found out about... More

As we booked last minute during a relatively high occupancy period in Madrid, Room Mate Laura hotel rooms were more expensive than usual. I wouldn't have minded if the room we had was nicer and the kitchenette included more than just a microwave and sink that we could use. It didn't even contain a single piece of cutlery unless you... I stayed in Room Mate Laura for the second time, having really enjoyed my previous stay there. As ever, the staff are polite, friendly and helpful. The rooms are modern, spacious and clean and well equipped. The location between Gran Via, Opera and Sol and about 8 minutes walk to Plaza Mayor is excellent.

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
