Visited this hotel for 4 days, The rooms are really clean, the staff are very friendly and the location of this hotel is the best thing about it. Its central and you can walk to most places. The staff help you with directions and provide you with the best service possible, we were even provided with a gadget to have... More

We spent 3 nights at this place and enjoyed our stay. This is our first stat at one of the 'Room Mate' hotels. Looked like it took forever to get to our room. But the room was nice size and the funky decor was interesting. The breakfast buffet in the morning was excellent. This hotel is centrally located to all... More

I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights and couldn't get any proper sleep. It wasn't the outside noise that kept me awake but inside the hotel. Above me must have been rearranging their room every night. Beside me sounded like they were renovating and outside our doors was the maids chamber. Every morning we would get awoken by something... More

Courteous and efficient service of the hotel staff. In an additional 15 euros I got room no 101 (Mini Suite). Probably my bad luck haunts me with this hotel chain, also this room located near the elevator :) At first glance. Large and spacious room. Comfortable bed. WIFI, most of the time working fine. But, it's hard not to notice... More

We stayed few years ago in Room Mate Emma Hotel in Barcelona and we liked it, so we have decided to try Mario while in Madrid. Room Mate Mario is pleasent affordable hotel in the city centre with friendly smiling stuff - everybody is smiling! Nice breakfast which you can enjoy till noon - always an advantage when you are... A clean room, a comfortable bed and a perfect position to visit the city. The room was not to small with a large closet. Breakfast, included in the price (!) was very good. I would recommend it to anyone who does not care for the ''home away from home'' look and feel.

The hotel is in a quiet street about 2 minutes walk from the Opera House and Metro station. The style is very modern and unique to the hotel. The rooms are large, quiet and although simply furnished, are spotlessly clean. The breakfast buffet (included in the price) has a very wide selection of fresh dishes and is served up until... More

I stayed here for two nights recently in January 2015. I did not interact with the staff much but when I did they were cordial and helpful. When I checked in the staff told me for the nights I was staying they had superior rooms available.I chose not to take that option. My room (110) was fine. I was staying... More

The hotel is very well located, very close to the Opera metro station and to the city center by foot. Our room was in general quite small but with a nice decoration and clean. The TV was ridiculous small and the sink was outside the bathroom, next to the bed(not my favorite) . However, for what we paid I think... More

We chose Mario because of its location and the good reviews given on Tripadvisor. With its proximity to the Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor, Plaza España and Puerta del Sol, we were not disappointed. It is also just a block to the Opera Metro stop. Our room was adequate for the price and the only problem I had was with the... More

Neighborhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
