Superb location. Funky lobby and décor and excellent staff. A must stay here to be in the heart of of Madrid. Sits right in Santa Ana Plaza. Dotted with cosy cafes and shops make it just perfect . Its buffet breakfast for 10 euros is totally worth the price . Must stay here

We stayed here 6th June for 5 days, loved the location so close to Plaza Santa Ana, easy walk to Prada Museum, Spanish Palace, Plaza Mayor, handy to Metro stations. We had a room on the top floor with a large terrace overlooking the Plaza, complete with loungers, outdoor shower, Hotel is surrounded by a variety of restaurants and Tapa's... More

My wife and I stayed at the Room Mate Alicia during our recent 2 night stay in Madrd. The hotel is conveniently located between the Spanish Palace and the Prado museum putting all of the sites and places we hoped to visit within walking distance ( if you are avid walkers that is). The staff was helpful and though there... More

This hotel has excellent staff, an excellent location and is very comfortable. I always stay here whilst travelling to Madrid & I'm yet to find a better hotel. I highly recommend staying here if travelling to Madrid. It's definitely worth trying to upgrade your room too as they have these really great terrace's that overlook the plaza. A+++

Loved the location, the duplex room with a huge patio was incredible for the price. The first night we did a standard room, the bed was too small so we asked for a king size bed, we were moved to the duplex room for a small extra charge, the staff was super friendly and helpful. Two things: The mini pool... More

This is our second stay at this hotel. Excelent location. Very nice room with a side view to Plaza Santa Ana. José Ramón Pelayo, Pablo del Corral, Andrea, Carlos and other whose names escape my memories really make it worth your stay. Excelent breakfast, un-intrusive room service and overall ambiance surely makes you want to stay longer or return soon.... More

Just spent six nights in Alicia where Andrea and her team took very well care of me and made me feel like at home. Room had a nice view, very clean, amenities replaced daily and great breakfast with eggs, bacon and Illy coffee... My favorite:-) Will be back!

Room Mate Alicia was spectacular. Pablo, at the front desk, was very nice, and helped us with anything we needed. We stayed in one of the junior sweets, which was plenty spacious for us. We're not a very modest couple, so the glass shower right in the open of the room, and only the toilet separated by a sliding door... More

The hotel is perfectly located on a square with many bars and restaurants. We had a room on the first floor overlooking the square and were not troubled by noise. It is easy walking distance to the main areas travellers to Madrid would like to visit. The staff are relaxed and helpful. The hotel has a modern style and the... More

Staying in Huertas

Neighborhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
