I booked a single room for 5 nights. This was a somewhat cramped interior room with no view (room 208) and was very hot & stuffy. The temperature was 26C - 28C, even through the night with the window wide open. Friends in a room facing the square (room 205) also complained at how hot their room was and each... More

If you have never stayed with Room Mate, you are missing a well kept secret. Book in advance as far as you can for best rates and take the breakfast option... it is better than anything else you will find in the area. We had a junior suite that overlooked the square and spent our late nights with the lights... More

I managed to get a reservation for the junior suite at a favourable rate - and loved it! It felt special to take a bath while observing the life on the square. Lots of light and a nice bed. The room had a very practical design and coffee making facilities. Strong wifi. All the staff was very friendly as well... More

The location of hotel is great. Quite close to metro Sol. The staff are friendly, always wearing smile and make you happy to stay. The breakfast is very good. I enjoyed it very much. The glass door of bathroom is quite a issue. I shared the room with a causal friend and I am little worry about my "privacy".

This hotel has one of the best if not the best location in Madrid, walking distance to all major known attractions in the city. Right in front of Plaza Santa Ana, less than 5 min walk to Puerta de Sol. You'll find a restaurant, cafe and tapas bar in every corner. If visiting Madrid for first time, I would definitely... More

Stayed for 2 nights in spite of bars around had a good night sleep room facing to street, enjoyed the design of the room. Changed from room giving on inside felt claustrophobic. Close to puerto del sol , Huertas calle with local restaurants central for Thyssen and Prado museum. Breakfast ok.

Upgraded to the top floor corner room.. Well worth it, great views of the square and amazing bath by the window! All the staff were very helpful and polite and spoke good English which was great! The breakfast was also nice. I'd definitely stay again 👍

We stayed for three nights after arriving from barcelona. The hotel is located extremely well and is a ten minute walk to Sol or to the Orado museum. It's located bang on the very busy Santa Ana square which is an excellent spot for tapas bars and restaurants and also is very busy. The hotel is small but very cosy... More

Late arrival with easy checkin. Comfortable room with nice Decor. Brilliant walk in shower. Shame that the television didn't have a good picture. Great location right in downtown Madrid. Either walk there or get a taxi. Don't bother with a car as access is poor

A 10 min walk from Renfe Cercanias Plaza Mayor trainstation. Close to plaza mayor; cibeles, mercado san Miguel, plaza España and everything could be walked Rooms are tiny for a double room and beds are not separated. The shower door is transparent so privacy while showering is not one of the main hotel's strengths also they're pretty hard to open... More

Staying in Huertas

Neighborhood Profile
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
