This hotel is right along a popular square and you can hear music and laughter from early afternoon until evening. Lots of strolling musicians, lovely outdoor seating and plenty of ambiance. It is easy to get anywhere you wish to in the older part of Madrid - and the Prada was just a nice walk. It is convenient to the... More

The hotel is in the center of Madrid, walking distance from everything. When I arrived the elevator was broken so out of order but the staff offer me their help for the luggage so really kind. The room was super dark and I thought because of the closed curtains it wasn't that the 2 room windows where overlooking the inside... More

First impression was not good but desk clerk was friendly and helpful and rooms were clean. Location was GREAT! Madrid hotels in this area have crazy prices, particularly on weekends. Reserve well in advance. Expect 2 star quality at 4 star prices.

We stayed here as a group for a long weekend away. The hotel is situated on a big square in central Madrid with lots of bars and restaurants. I stayed in a triple room which was a nice size we had clean towels and bedding every day. Breakfast was included and there was a good selection including cereal, toast, fruit,... More

Pleasant hotel in excellent central location 10 minutes walk from Plaza Mayor, Prado, Puerta de Sol, etc. Many nice places to eat in immediate vicinity and charming statue of Federico Garcia Lorca in the square outside. Hotel staff very friendly; room basic but clean, and quite good sound insulation (necessary given its position overlooking the theatre, restaurants, and late night... More

I stayed at three different places in Madrid and this hotel was the cleanest and had the nicest design. Having a little balcony window view over the square was the best part. It's in the old literary part of Madrid with a range of places to visit nearby, such as Ernert Hemingway's favourite bar. The receptionist was friendly and helpful... More

This small and well priced hotel is perfectly located for travellers who wish to visit Madrid's favourite landmarks: The Prado, Reina Sofia, Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, etc. Enjoy an inexpensive breakfast at the bar Miau, on the corner next to the hotel or for 8 euros you can do the full breakfast in their hotel dining room. Friendly staff... More

You ve got to love Hotel Miau, (first of all, it 's called "Miau"!)!! It 's located on Santa Ana, a very charming square, very convenient for moving around Madrid. Really good value for money and polite stuff, fluent in English too! Really enjoyed my stay here

Just back from 4 nights in the Hotel Miau. We arrived about 8pm and were greeted by name by the gentleman on the front desk ( whose name escapes me, I apologise! ) Straight to our room...room 10 on the first floor. Room was small but perfectly formed! Space to move around, enough wardrobe space for hanging clothes but could... More

During our stay, the restaurant in Hotel Miau caught fire. The hotel was filled with smoke and we had to evacuate. No fire alarms went off. After waiting in the rain for three hours, the hotel was cleared for occupancy. However, a strong smoke smell lingered so we decided to check out early. When leaving, we wanted to be comped... More

Staying in Huertas

Neighborhood Profile
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
