Everything was perfect. The staff was very kind and the room was very clean. The bed was one of the best I slept on. The breakfast buffet was delicious too. They also have a smaller buffet composed of sandwiches, pasta, and salad between 2 pm to 12am for the guests to snack on. I would definitely visit again.

A one night stay. We wanted a simple business style hotel in the old part of town. This was better than expected - think Novotel with a quirky human touch. Spotlessly clean, not feeling like a chain (although it is in fact part of a major group), delightful staff, convenient for tourist attractions and unexpected extras like a complimentary snack... We enjoyed our stay - convenient to Prado, palace, plaza major, trains...shopping. The room was clean with large bath - separate tub and large shower. The only downside was the overwhelming perfume smell upon entering the lobby/reception area - not pleasant.

A very good location with the Prado close at hand and walking distance to most attractions. Staff were friendly and it was nice to have unlimited bottles still and sparking water available as well as snakes after 1pm. A computer with printer was available for no charge which was handy for printing tickets.

This is a very good, small hotel. A few minutes from the Prado, Thyssen, Retiro etc, its rooms are well appointed, and the general service is very good. And they provide complimentary snacks all day. Good quality at reasonable price, definitely a good place to stay.

We loved this hotel for its great location, friendly staff, comfortable, quiet rooms, and the courtesy of free snacks and soft drinks offered in the bar area all day from 12 noon. It's not flashy and doesn't have spas, shops and the like, but has everything you could possibly need for a really comfortable haven right in the centre of... More

This hotel was perfect. The location was great; a 5-10 min walk to everywhere; Puerta de Sol, Prado, Plaza Mayor...Wonderful area to be in. The room was great; very comfortable king bed, A/C, the bathroom was huge. Everyone at the front desk was very helpful and nice. The 'snacks' available from 1pm to midnight were fantastic. Sandwiches, salads, croissants, muffins,... More

We loved this hotel. The staff are very helpful. Our room was a standard room looking into the courtyard but had a terrace (201) which was fantastic. Very well appointed room if a tad small. Toiletries were plentiful again with the Catalonia group. The only slight negatives regarding the room is the shower over the tub with a curtain (personal... More

I ( like many previous travellers) studied the reviews of this hotel as we wanted to stay in a central hotel with character. We were delighted with the choice. Not too big - elegant & immaculately clean. We chose a superior room ( 304 ) which was a corner room & had 2 windows making it very light. The main bed... More

For our 1st trip to Madrid we were understandably cautious about the hotel/location we selected, however, we needn't have had any concerns as we simply followed lots of other satisfied clients to Catalonia Las Cortes in Calle del Prado This is a relatively small hotel and is ideally located for a short break, with easy access to many of the... Staying in Huertas

Neighborhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
