My wife and I enjoyed an excellent three day break in Madrid towards the end of February, following the choice of many other travellers and staying at this hotel. What a wise decision - a superb location, close to the Prado, Thyssen etc but more importantly the small group of front of house staff could not have been more friendly.... More

Stayed at Las Cortes for the weekend - great room , really quiet , in centre of Madrid near all the fun , helpful staff. Would go back in an instant. Free snacks from the afternoon until late at night in the foyer of the hotel which always helps a review.

We spent four nights in this comfortable city hotel on the Calle de Prado half way between Plaza St Ana and the Prado museum in an area abounding in restaurants and tapas bars. It is quite discrete exteriorly but very comfortable and well-appointed inside. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly and most spoke at least some English.... More

We stayed at this hotel in January. The location is great, surrounded by bars, restaurants and cafes. The reception staff were very helpful and polite. Our room was huge with a big bed, in which we slept very well. There were slippers provided and chocolates on the bed in the evening and lots of bathroom essentials provided should you forget... Superb location. Beautiful building. Good size room with beautiful marble bathroom Quiet The complementary snacks (quite substantial) and soft drinks available 1-12 were a wonderful bonus. Couldn't fault it, highly recommend it!

This hotel is really good value for your money. We got ugraded to a better room - it was gorgeous with splendid ceiling paintings. No view, though, but the hotel is on a quiet street right next to Plaza Santa Ana - near everything...

Fantastic location, cheerful, caring staff and quiet. Attractive detailed work in the rooms. It was a real treat to have substantial snacks available. Catalonia Las Cortes is a comforting place to return to after a day or evening out.

We stayed at the Catalonia Las Cortes for three or four nights last week. We had Room 202 which is a Junior Suite. It was amazing. The room was huge, well appointed and gorgeous. The painted ceiling was gorgeous and we felt like royalty with the furnishings including a huge bed with zillions of pillows. One entered the suite area... More

The location was hard to find for two newbies in Spain but once we did it was perfect. The room was clean and spacious and it was perfect for a base camp in Madrid. We felt like locals staying in that area. The staff spoke enough English for us to get by.

Great central location. Lovely warm (it was really cold outside) welcome from reception. Nice size room, very comfortable bed, great shower and bathroom with all toiletries supplied. Free buffet was very welcome in a relaxed environment. I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again if back in Madrid.

Staying in Huertas

Neighborhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
