This hotel is located right outside Puerta del Sol, walking distance to many great attractions, lots of shopping and restaurants. It is clean, staff very helpful and serviceable. We had an issue with the air conditioner where it would shut off on its own. We let them know and they took care of it. In our room, located in the... More

good hotel, clean room, friendly staff. 5 minute walk from the heart of the city centre & the subway, for it's location within the city, it's surprisingly quiet. they secure parking (not owned by hotel) is very expensive at 33 euro per night, for a MOTORCYCLE! & the staff at the parking are very rude! hotel offer a laundry service... The Hotel Victoria 4 is perfectly located in a small street/alley right behind Puerta del Sol - which is a great location for shopping, sightseeing, and of course tapas! Behind the classic façade is a modern (in terms of quality) hotel with nice colors, paintings, etc. Visiting Madrid during July in 43 degrees C (110F) we were very pleased that... More

The hotel is very clean and leaves you with a good feeling. Very friendly staff and the room size is fine and really nice. The hotel is close to downtown and walking is easy to many sites.. Good location to get a bus taxi. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone. The only downside is the wifi... More

Despite the nearby bars and nightlife, this hotel is a quiet oasis: thanks to good quality double glazing. Comfortable rooms, friendly staff and a filling breakfast. Ideal for a long or short stay. Definitely a place to use when I return to Madrid.

I booked this hotel to be close to the central part of Madrid and absolutely loved the location. Walking distance to all the great city attractions. Staff was friendly and very professional. I would ask for a balcony side room if available.

The beste thing is the location. Near Sol and plaza Ana and all the action. If you are a light sleeper choose a different hotel. Breakfast is a buffet and could be better. Rooms are spacious. Bathroom is good. Rooms are clean. Hotel provides travel to airport.

The location of this hotel is absolutely brilliant. Walking distance to major attractions (Prado, Royal Palace etc.) Good sized rooms (5th floor), simple but good breakfast. Internet connection flawless. Just outside the door there were dozens of restaurants, pubs etc. The AC was a bit too efficient some nights. Could be "cold and windy" Highly recommended !

The hotel is in a great location down a quiet street but near all the facilities for buses, trains, underground etc. rooms really comfortable. Always kept clean. Reception staff always very welcoming and happy to help. Could do with more English tv channels, but that's my only criticism.

My partner and I stayed here 2 nights to celebrate his birthday in Madrid. The hotel is in a great location just a minutes walk from Plaza sel Sol. The breakfast buffet is awful, sliced cheese and cold continental meats all on the same tray. Not very vegetarian friendly. The coffee is "fatal" to quote the Spanish. Best to avoid.... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
