Great hostel! Funky, fun and so close to the centre. Staff were amazing also! We have been travelling for a couple of months and this hostel is definitely a more recommended one! Walking tour with Carlos was great fun also, he had great energy and massive knowledge about the city :)

I stayed in a 10 bed dorm room and I had an excellent stay, although it was for only one night. Bed was comfortable and bunk beds were solid and sturdy to where movement of the other person was not noticeable. All the facilities were clean and modern. I don't think there was a kitchen, but I know they provided... More

I loved my stay at Cats, it's by far the most sociable hostel I've stayed in during my travels and I had so much fun! If you're young and sociable this is the hostel for you. The actual building is beautiful and has an indoor courtyard and fountain, with lots of cushions and sofas to chill out on. The rooms... More

Definitely a party hostel! Don't expect to sleep too much as you will be going out with your new hostelmates very often! I stayed in the 14-bedroom suite. The bedroom facilities are great, and the bathrooms are generally clean, though the toilet stalls seem to be a bit too small for a big guy like me. The keys to open... More

We stayed at Cat's for 3 nights for a party trip over the weekend. The hostel has a good size, enough people to have fun, but not too many to become anonymous. The room was nice and clean, showers were allright. The toilets could use some more space, as a tall guy I nearly didn't fit :D The Bar downstairs... More

The rooms are clean are clean and safe, the staff is super fun and friendly, the hostel offers different activities each day to help you experience and get to know Madrid and Spanish culture, and it's super easy to meet and hang out with people from the hostel if you are traveling solo like I did. Plus, the building has... More

Great hostel. So much fun. So many cool people. Staff are ace. Defiantly do the pub crawl if they're taking you to kapital. The other places suck but it's worth it for the free drinks and entry to kapital. Free walking tour is not so free. You're expected to tip. Maybe pay your employees more. Hostel is in pretty much... The location was fantastic and the rooms were all clean. It was my first hostel on a two month journey. The bar was a lot smaller than I expected so it was hard for a lot of people to fill in. Later in the evening the staff open up the basement where you can get more of a club feeling... More

Stayed here a couple of nights, recommended by Mark Duggan, a Scottish guy we met. We arrived to an evening of inpromptu music and cookery. For 3 euros, we got a fab paela which was cooked in front of us in a huge pan while listening to a few guys playing guitar and singing. Great introduction to Madrid n highly... More

Staying in Huertas

Neighborhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
