The hostel's social area is as beautiful as it looks on the photos. Really stunning and a lovely place to chill. I just wish they had made more effort with the bedrooms and the bathrooms! The rooms have no windows and no ventilation which is not great when sharing with 5 other people. The bathrooms smell even though they are... More

Great hostel! Nice design, I stayed at a good room, the staff was great and they had a really good sangria. Loved the pub crawl. Got to know a lot of nice people and had a lot of fun! The location was also perfect.

Beautiful property, good rooms. A large hostel masquerading as a small one (in a good way, as in, it has a lot of character). Great location. Lots of activities. Maybe a little overpriced as to alcohol but a good place for backpackers.

The hostel common area is exquisite. . The attic dorms are lovely and surprisingly spacious. The staff are very helpful and friendly If you are going on the "free" walking tour be mindful the tour guides are payed solely on tips. Viviana was our guide and she was extremely entertaining and informative. The free sheets are always clean but can... More

No Kitchen, couldn't drink your own liquor, terrible showers, loud music until late at night. Bar was overpriced and opened late so you couldn't eat or drink during the day. If it weren't for the people I met it would have been a waste of time.

I formed a part of the group leaders for a group of 30+ people coming to Madrid for educational and cultural visit in Feb 2015. We had an excellent communication experience with the hostel both at the moment of getting to know the hostel (we were carefully met and we received a very kind group offer with the possibility to... Cats is a party hostel, so if you want a hotel or the kind of hostel where you stay semi-long-term, don't stay here. There is no kitchen. There is a bar. Them's the breaks. That said, it is really fun and while things can get crazy if you want them to, the times I've stayed here there have always been... More

good: located in the city, only short walk from the Sol plaza bad: breakfast was served in plastic many beds but only a few tables in the "breaksfast location" and in the common are (courtyard) NO KITCHEN which is really bad if you are a backpacker and want to save money by not eating out the alternative was a pizza... Good things : location, many events organized by the hostel Bad thing : plz excuse my language. That black guy at the reception. He treated me like a burden to him. On my arrival, he was like, hey / your name / here is your key / it's on third floor / this is how the door works. There are... More

I stayed for a few days with my friends and had a great time. It's walking distance from the main part of the city centre and the train and bus stations are only 15mins away with buses available to the airport directly. The staff are really friendly and helpful - one example would be when my friends and I could... More

Staying in Huertas

Neighborhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
