Close to Vodafone square this hostel is located at the centre. The staff in the hostel is good they even arranged for breakfast at 6.30-7 in the morning (since i had to catch a flight). The wash rooms are ok but a bit small for a person 6 feet tall. The free breakfast was ok it had cereals, cake, juice... More

Stayed for one night in transit. The location was great, and the hostel was pretty, but it was incredibly cramped and loud and they don't allow you to bring your own beer and wine into the hostel. I am a pretty small person and I felt like I barely fit into the bathrooms. Not really comfortable at all. And seriously,... More

Really good location near the metro system, attractions and the main square of Madrid. Provided a free walking tour that I really enjoyed as well as salsa lessons which were fun. Could be a bit noisy at times but it does class itself as a party hostel so that was to be expected.

This was my second stay in The Cats hostel, and was much better than the one before. As I arrived I had to ask for a room with locker, (I didnt find on website that there are rooms without them) but very nice receptionist made it work for both of us. I stayed in attic rooms on the second floor... More

We stayed in Cats Hostel for 3 Nights. The Hostel itself was nice, very very central and affordable. It has Pubcrawls & Walking Tours every day and a bar and other activities :) Only downside is, that the rooms are quite small and without windows (only entrance door and an AC, which is controlled by the hostel) When you are... The first impression after walking in is that the hostel is beautiful; with its red walls and Islamic art. The color scheme is really satisfying and brings the feel of the place together. And then the problems start. The doors have a nearly impossible lock system with 3 counterintuitive steps that must be completed in order. Then I could hardly... More

Stayed there 2 nights, the location is pretty good, very close to sol and you don't get noise from the road, it is easy to get to it. Pros: - Location - Room was big and had showers and toilets inside. - Internet gets to the room and works decently except when there is many people using it. - Breakfast... More

Stayed recently for 2 nights on a long weekend stag do. Hostel is nice and clean with modern facilities. Showers were terrible, hardly any hot water for the whole weekend. The bar area is fairly small. Avoid breakfast... Bit of cereal and toast but no plates to eat off or enough bowls to feed everyone! DO NOT get sucked into... More

We were 2 friends ending our Spain trip in Madrid. Stayed here for a night. Good : The social area is fantastic as shown in the pics. Met a lot of interesting people, good crowd. Extremely good location and they organise a pub crawl as well, which was pretty good. Bad : The bathroom, both the WC and the showers... More

Hi there! Is great to hear that you met a lot of people and enjoyed our parties. Sorry to hear that you were a bit dissapointed with the size of the bathroom on your floor, for the next time we have ensuite dorms that you could book. Regards Cat's Hostel More

The hostel's social area is as beautiful as it looks on the photos. Really stunning and a lovely place to chill. I just wish they had made more effort with the bedrooms and the bathrooms! The rooms have no windows and no ventilation which is not great when sharing with 5 other people. The bathrooms smell even though they are... More

Staying in Huertas

Neighborhood Profile
Huertas
Also known as Barrio de las Letras, Huertas was once home to prominent literary figures, Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega among them. The neighborhood is committed to celebrating its rich heritage: Calle Huertas itself is inlaid with quotes from celebrated authors, street names pay homage to them, and second-hand bookshops pervade. Huertas receives a fair amount of spillover from the center — side streets around Plaza Santa Ana take on a foreign party atmosphere at night, and you always see young backpackers navigating the streets — but as you descend into the neighborhood, everything becomes a little more cramped and slightly less refined, and takes on more of an underground feel. Live music is at the heart of Huertas: by night, its subdued bars are ideal for meeting friends, sipping cocktails, and chatting quietly while enjoying jazz or singer-songwriter performances.
