Comfortable, good location, and reasonable price. My room had a great view onto Gran Via with a Perfect beginning to a new phase of life for me. Never forget it. Great city to meet the kind of interesting guys I like. Being located in the heart of Chueca helped. I didn't remember much Spanish, but menus in lots of languages... More

If you want to stay in Hostel, I recommend this one. Rooms clean. Service ok. Helpful staff. A little bit over priced for a double room in comparison of Hotel offers. But still this is nice choice for a stay in Madrid.

That was my 3rd time in Madrid and I believe I found my place. I had booked 2 rooms and needed to amend the dates for one of them. Mario contacted me and explained to me everything written and verbal on the phone. Upon arrival he knew my name and gave me a warm honest welcome. When my other friend... More

The room was very clean and nice with all the facilities that are needed and Sr.Mario is a very attentive and nice person. The house is in a very good location, near all the attractions and museums. Even though the street in busy at night, the soundproof windows make it easy to sleep. I will certainly stay here in my... More

Casa Chueca is a great little hostal in the heart of Madid's buzzing, bohemian centre. Chueca is just off the Gran Via in the Spanish capital and the Metro Gran Via is a short walk from Casa Chueca. The host, Mario was very kind and helpful and the rooms were very clean, cute and very reasonable. It is a great... More

One of the great things about Madrid is that you can still find affordable nice little hostals in the center of things and Casa Chueca is a perfect example of this. I couldn't have been more pleased by the service, cleanliness, comfort, location -- and all for a fraction of a cost of what other major cities would charge for... More

Tucked away in the centrally located, gay friendly neighborhood of Chueca my wife and I found this quaint little hostel. The prices were on par with the other hostels we looked at in the area (€55) and the rooms were simple and clean with recently renovated bathrooms. The rooms are basic and not fancy but they are modern and clean,... More

the website looks nice, but the reality is far from what is offered. the rooms are not very nice and quite shabby. the walls have mold stains (luckily i changed rooms), the towels in the bathroom are not clean and probably used to be white decades ago. the owner/receptionist charged me the wrong amout on my credit card and then... it all looks very nice on the website, but this is a depressing nightmare. there is blackmail implicit when you book online, because qhen you get there you're obliged to stay for 2 nigths in a really crap, small and smelly room. the worse I have experienced (I organize turism groups).it costs around 60 euros nigth and it should cost... My comments are directed at Casa Chueca’s misleading and deceitful booking practices and poor customer service. I booked a room for 2 nights beginning October 26 on very short notice based on Casa Chueca’s website information. At no time was I informed that the building was under renovation. As I arrived in Madrid prior to the day of my stay,... More

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
