I stayed there for 3 nights (in Mai 2015). I chose this hotel because of its good ratings in my travel guide and because of its location in the center. I warmly recommend this hotel and it is quite likely that I will return next time I visit Madrid. The room was clean, big, bright and nice with everything you... More

The only thing going for this hotel is its central location. The room we had in this hotel was absolutely tiny - not at all what we expected from the photos. The TV in the room had no reception and the staff provided us with some DVDs instead. Well, the DVD player was broken too. The staff were friendly and... More

Hotel Meninas is a great choice for those wishing to see the best of Madrid, the palace, theatre, museums, theatre and fab parks. The hotel staff and friendly and very helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the breakfast is superb. Dining choices in the evening are numerous. I would heartily recommend this hotel.

My husband and I stayed 6 nights in this hotel. Great location, very well maintained and clean. The service was very good, we dealt with Melina on our arrival and she was a sweetheart, very helpful and kind. We had booked a Junior and was too small for us. I think is small for a couple. I would recommend it... More

This place has its pros and cons, so here goes. Pros: great location, central to everything. Close to taxi stand, so its easy to get out. Rooms are good size, though we were in a Jr suite. Cons: its loud. You can hear everything from the hall and the streets. We had a buffer from the hall, since we were... More

Lots of positive things to say about this hotel. Within a 3 minute walk you can be standing in front of the Palace or in Opera square with easy access to the Metro line just 2 minutes away. It is located on a photo-worthy quiet street and the staff are all very friendly. The only negative is the actual room.... More

My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It is very cute and clean. Small, but well appointed rooms. The staff was our very favorite part. They were local but spoke perfect English which was extraordinarily helpful when we needed to book reservations for 2 events that only took them in person or over the phone. This... More

Although rated and priced as a 4 star hotel, Meninas sports minuscule dark rooms you access through narrow hallways, cheap furniture and decor and not even a bar to have a nightcap. On the plus side the facilities are clean, the staff is helpful and it is located walking distance to all the great attractions of Madrid's city center.

Second visit to this hotel and a disappointment. Things have slipped in the 5 years since I last stayed here. Plus Points. Very central for the Plaza Mayor district, the Royal Palace and Cathedral and in a very quiet road. Minus Points. Very dark rooms with little natural light, no public amenities - not even a bar, noisy corridors due... More

Small old fashioned themed hotel well located in the center very near opera metro and taxi stand. Helpful staff. No full time cafeteria (only breakfast) - only in its sister hotel Opera about 50 meters walk thus room service food came cold and after 45 mins although they had warned me about the delay the food could have been warmed.... Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
