The hotel is small but in an excellent location just off Opera square minutes walking from the Metro. Well located for all the major sites. The room was small and we didn't have a bath but it was all we needed as we were out all day. There is a supermarket opposite and bars at the top of the road.... More

Dear guest, First of all, thank you for your comment regarding your stay with us, here at the Hotel Meninas. This protected 19th century building was renovated to preserve its original structure and design, and classic details like the vaulted dining room, located in the old wine cellar, where the clients have the buffet breakfast, with spanish omelette included. We... More

I stayed 2 nights with my parents in Sept 2014 in the 104 room, was really spacious, clean and comfortable. Only a few steps from metro Opera where you can walk easily to the center of Madrid, maybe just 20 minutes to Puerta de Sol. I really recommend you stay here, we keep an eye always in the cleanliness and... More

The hotel is very close to the subway. No need to take a cab from airport as you can take the subway and be within steps of the hotel. The building is walking distance to major plazas and shopping. Youll be near the subway anyways. There is a burger king oddly enough accross the street. The hotel lobby was nice.... More

Hotel is tucked round the corner from the Opera metro, a quieter road in a prime location. Small and unassuming hotel, but staff very efficient and helpful. Good breakfast option available at the hotel. We had a room on 4th floor to back of hotel. Rooms are typically small as you might expect in such a central city hotel where... More

We stayed two nights at the menina and although it's not a five star hotel, the staff was more than friendly and attentive to all of our needs. they are cognizant the fact that they are a boutique hotel, and the rooms are representative of this, but the staff was much more attentive than what you would expect. The air condition is set at a low temperature controlled by the hotel management. If you are not comfortable with 22c as your room temperature you are out of luck. Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
