I stayed 5 nights at Meninas Hotel & it was a great experience. The hotel is well located- walking distance to many attraction. It is in an active area, yet rooms are very quiet. Reception staff are friendly & helpful. I booked a small double room & I was upgraded to a standard double room. Wifi is free & at... More

I discovered Hotel Meninas after reading reviews in Lonely Planet. I have to say I was very impressed. The hotel was very clean and the rooms and bathrooms are spacious for European standards. The hotel staff is very friendly and will help you get any place you need to go. The hotel is just steps away from Plaza Mayor and... More

The Hotel Meninas was a quaint and cozy boutique hotel a block from the Opera metro station. It was a great location - walking distance to many major sites including Gran Via, Puerto Del Sol, Plaza Mayor, and Real Palace. It was wonderfully quiet. The hotel room itself is standard for European boutique hotels, meaning, it's teeny tiny! However small... More

I had a quick trip through Madrid and the Meninas is a really charming boutique hotel .very affordable and quiet in a cute neighborhood . Near the opera square so u can walk for dinner or drinks and catch the subway easily. They upgraded me and I had a very nice room. A bit dark but that was ok as... More

This is a perfect base for visiting the city of Madrid. Minutes away from Metro Opera, minutes from Real Palacio and minutes from Calle del Arenal where you can choose from a vast array of eateries, pubs, bars and cafes. The fantastic Plaza Mayor is only a 5 minute stroll and a hive of nightime dining. The hotel itself is... More

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights in July. We were given the Junior Suite Special which worked out to be a good option as we were a couple and two kids. We were all in one room but the children had separate beds and there was loads of space. The location is wonderful. A few minutes walk from... More

After arriving at 11 pm exhausted and with credit card problem, the receptionist, Noelia, was very helpful and offer all sorts of suggestions including a long distance call at no extra cost! Fortunatelly it was not needed and everything was sorted. Will strongly recommend this hotel

My friend and I recently stayed here for four nights- having never been to Madrid before, the central location between the Plaza Mayor, Gran Via and Palacio Real was brilliant and made navigating very easy! The staff were lovely on the whole, and very eager to help us when we asked for directions and a map. The rooms were also... More

Pictures can be deceitful and may seduce you at first, but don't be fooled by what you see online. I came to Madrid for business I chose Meninas Hotel because it is located near my work meeting and the pictures looked nice. Upon arrival at check in I was suppose to receive an upgrade, but the upgrade end up being... More

We would highly recommend the Meninas Hotel for your stay in Spain. My wife, unfortunately shortly after arriving at the hotel, became sick. The staff was so very helpful in helping us locate a cab and direct us to the hospital. Once we returned they were very concerned about her health. The staff was also very helpful with suggestions on... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
