Situated in Chueca and above two gay clubs, I came prepared with two bags of earplugs expecting a bit of night time noise. Completely unnecessary. Room 403 gets absolutely no street noise at all. The clientele range from single people to young families. Quiet people but very thin walls. The centrally located hostal/hostel is only a few minutes walk from... More

You get more than you pay! The hostel is charming, the owner was really nice and welcoming (he even gave us a room + bathroom, when our booking was for a room without it), good price (36 euros!) and great breakfast. From now on this is gonna be our hostel in Madrid for sure!!! <3

When I booked the hostal, I was directly asking for the drawback, as I found the price incredibly reasonable. And now, after my stay, I can honestly say, that there was none, Ignacio was right ;-) Unless, you expect a modern 4-stars-hotel with all the luxuries, you might (eventually) find some - but honestly, if you go in this kind... I'm Tugce from Istanbul. I've stayed for 9 nights at Dolce Vita. And If I ever visit Madrid, I'll definitely stay at Dolce Vita! Here is why: Location -> Wonderful! So close to the center and you can go visit everywhere on foot. Staff -> Very friendly! :) Very nice people. Also helpful when you ask for an advice. Hygiene... More

The room was ready.it was basic, clean and good value for money.staff all friendly.yesterday they looked after my bag so as not to have to carry it all day. Perfect location, 1 min walk to Gran Via.would I repeat? Yes.

I stayed here one night in oct 2014 being in transit. The good thing is the location, pretty central in Chueca, 15 min walk from Renfe (takes you directly to the airport). Pretty much everything is in walking distance. The not so good thing - everything else. The room wasn't ready for 1.5 hrs, the receptionist didn't speak any english (although nice),... More

My daughter and I stayed here on our way to hike the Camino. We realized that our backpacks were to heavy and the host gladly kept some extra luggage till we got back. The breakfast is superb and rooms very creatively decorated and clean. I recommend this place highly.

I recently stayed in Dolcevita in a twin room with private bathroom. I want to highlight here that the hostel is on 3rd floor with no elevator, so book here only if you have less luggage or are fit and ready to climb the stairs. The pros of the place are as mentioned by others that its good value for... More

When making reservation I wanted central location, near metro station and low price. And thats what I got. As a bonus hostal was clean and stuff was nice and helpful, even with my two word spanish.. Price included proper breakfast. For some it might be good to know that there is no elevator and also that you can hear almost... More

Staying in Chueca

Neighborhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighborhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
